ok my back box has just fallen off so im looking for something that will be a bit more sportier sounding with out breaking the bank or should i just go for another standard box. So anyone know where i can get a sportier sounding box? Are any of these universal boxes any good? Its for an '86 2ltr petrol

it hasnt been that long since i replace the front section and now the back box has gone should i just replace the middle section and be done with it and have a nice new exhaust???

My opinion is that universal boxes are just cheap and farty... The sound does not suit the quality of our cars. I would say
Use a standard replacement Box from e-bay to save your money, and when you are ready, spend as much as you like for a properly built full system.

also note that noisy boxes will not be comfortable when you cruise.

I had a REMUS back box on my 1.8 at one stage, it changed the driving dynamics a bit may have just been me but it didn't drive as smoothly as with a standard box.

Did sound nice though and not too loud at all.

They come up on ebay every now and then, mine sold a few months back for a measly £50 :X

ok just fitted a new standard box from ecp but i have a problem in that when i put my foot down the car seems to be sluggish would this be in my head after cruising the missus micra last few days or could i have done something wrong not sure how tho

does anyone know of any way of supporting the back box as it still seems to hang low towards the middle of the car kinda where the dog leg section is as the last one was well scraped along the bottom from speed bumps and was looking kinda thin and dont want this one to go there

Have you replaced both the rubber `O` s?

Put the back box on the middlle section and use a U clamp to tighten it, that should hold it tight

Have you got the back box angled right? Try twisting it around a bit with the U-clamp loosened a bit, might tuck the pipe under the body work a bit.

If its not a genuine merc box, its quite possible it's not quite the same as the original so doesn't look quite right.

Or you could fit this:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160361269512&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_975

Looks different to the REMUS box I had on my 1.8 though.

Nice box and cheap at the moment but it's got another five days to go, all depends on how many are interested in it.

Edit.- Went for £82
