My exhaust is loose in the middle, were the piece drops down from the engine, its two pipes that join into one then curve into the middle of the car. its a whole section thats loose, I've filled it with exhaust paste which works for about a day then just cracks again.

The exhaust itself is in good nick, not blowing or rusted up etc. Just loose on each join, does anyone have any tips on how to fix it. When I rev the car it rattles at each join, making the car sound sh*t. Its not the heat shield thats loose either, the actual joins

Are you missing your exhaust mount off the side of the gearbox?
Other than that, surely exhaust clamps will secure it?

The exhaust seems to be mounted ok, its the joins in the pipe that are loose for some reason. I'll have another look to see if its mounted properly, but thats where the problem is, the piece by the gearbox as you say. The problem is, its a b*stard to get underneath because of the kit etc, I jack it up but keep all wheels on the ground in case the f*cker gives out when I'm underneath. I might have to take it to a garage, I just cant be doing with the sharp inhale of breath through the teeth and the inevitable price of a full exhaust the bloke will probably quote me

You could try tightening up the bolts a long socket extention is needed to get up the manifold other than that like neil says check the brakcet from the gear box

If you need the front bit its £65+vat from ecp cheepest place I could find and fit yourself, kwick-fit are £240 for it and the next section before the back box fitted

ive just finished fitting a new front section to mine and found that the metal gasket between the front pipe and the middle pipe was shot and they are only a couple of quid form ecp maybe worth a try just 2 bolts and swap over

ok cheers, I think I'm going to have to get it up on a ramp to investigate properly. I dont think the gearbox mount is loose. The weird thing is, its not blowing, not even slightly, its just a loose rattle
