As you all know I have now got a W124 as well. This is basicly an amalgamation of threads and posts about my 124 into one place, (cheers Steve) I thought I may put some pictues up of it, as you will see there is quite a lot of work to do with it especially as it has been keyed, kicked and the badges cut off. But apparently the "Rat Look" is in at the moment. I have already changed two tyres as there were nails stuck in them, somone really hated the previous owner. ![]() AS it just arrived after a drive back from Birmingham. ![]() Deep Key lines on all panels and a scabby door. ![]() Big dent in the passenger door, I will take the door card off and thump it out. ![]() The Dash ![]() MB Tex orthapeadic seats that are heated ![]() Need a wardrobe moving? Bit grubby in there but the neibour has a carpet cleaner. ![]() The hole in the body work ![]() Now gone and painted in red primer ready for the topcoat ![]() The Rear door with the numberplate removed and the rust holes from the numberplate mounts being treated. ![]() New wheel trims , proper Merc ones added. ![]() And a picture of my apprentice who has helped by handing me things and sitting in the drivers seat making "Vroom Vroom" noises and putting the hazards on then running around the car to see if they work. There is a lot to do, 3 liters of 568 Signal Red is on order (Cheers Neil) as well as lot and lots more. I went to GSF to get a new oil filter for it. On coming out of GSF the W124 had decided that it didnt like its oil, I knew this as there was an ominous pool of oil forming around the front of the car and the amount drips coming off the bottom of the car was hilarious. Luckly I had 5 liters of oil in the back so I bunged it in and the oil light went off and drove to a trusted garage. I had to stop at ASDA on the way back because the oil light came on again, so I topped it up and set off again. Lucky that I bought 10 liters as I had to stop another mile later to top up again, bloody oil light. I finaly got that bloody estate to Shas Garage where they said they will take a look somtime today. Hopfully its a split pipe or somthing silly, its NOT the head as that was fine the oil was gushing out from somwhere lower down the block. If you need to know where I have been today I`m sure that you can follow the thick black oil line and see where I stopped because of the oily puddle`s. Additional, the oil filter has `o` rings that can perish and split allowing a deluge of oil, thats what happened to me. a new oil filter and the `O` rings will sort it, though you only realise when the oil light comes on at 70mph while you are in the fast lane :O The good thing is that the Audi tailgating you is covered in your oil ![]() Carry a spare oil tub, 13mm spanner and filter, at all time so you can top up and get somwhere sensible or home Edited by Rich27, Tue Nov 10, 2009 9:00 pm.

Since joining this site, I've begun to admire 124's more and more. Would now be my Estate of choice without a doubt, although I wish they came with a 3-slat grill like the 190s! Rich, will you use some of those 3litres to cover the Chrome arches? PM'd |

I will replace the front wings, so no need for the chrome and also ditch the rear arches when I paint it. Though I am not liking it at the moment, Effing rear window rubbers Edited by Rich27, Wed Sep 9, 2009 7:22 pm.

Good Luck, mine is due in the next few weeks! It will be interesting to see if the emmissions are a LOT less than diesel as other people on veggie oil insist! |

Just got it back. It passed It did have some advisorys: Exhaust System slightly deteriorating , Fixed with jubalee clips, exhaust putty and larger cans. Obviously dosen't impress MOT Testers All Coil springs corroded, Will be wire brushed then coated with black underseal Offside rear break hose has slight corrosion to ferrules, Will be changed asap, should be an easy job Fuel pipe corroded, Again will inspected and then be changed/repaired asap Oil leak, No it had a disatrous oil leak and the black stuff is still dripping out of the undertray Child seat fitted and not allowing full inspection of the adult belt, FFS dont take the mick I was also told that some MOT testers will not allow vehicles powerd by veg as they can break the machine, anyway it got past the emmisions and left the garage stinking of chips so I promised to bring it in diesel power next year,

Copyed from another thread: I had a major leak today. At the last injector thingy on the block there is fuel in and fuel out, the fuel out on the last injector has a blanking rubber bung. Mine perished and allowed diesel/SVO to be pumped out everywhere and caused a lot of smoke. Luckly I had some spare fuel line stuff so I cut off a length and screwed a screw in the top to seal it. It seams to be stopping the leak. As its a rubber stopper I would reccomend that you Veg lot check yours in case its perished.

I have just ordered 2 new wings from Beevers. They should be here soon so no more gaffer tape. It needs a treat as I have just taken about 2 tons of Stanner Stairlift to the dump. Anyone know wher I can get a bootlock? Edited by Rich27, Mon Nov 23, 2009 4:46 pm.

Yay ! The wings have arrived, There is a large bubble wrap parcel sitting in the garage. I can get them sorted soon. Cheers again for the heads up on Beevers panels, Richy Additional: The DS panel is sitting in the garage with the inside painted in red hammerite to stop any future rust. I have the proper paint, that will go on the outside and some waxoil will be added inside before fitting. Edited by Rich27, Wed Nov 25, 2009 5:34 pm.

Yep, put it on with a brush niiiiiice and even. You dont need to go mad with it but a moderately thick layer wont hurt. |
