Just collected the car today and it's had its MOT fresh today. Upon driving it home, I found a knocking noise when changing gear, up to and including 4th. It sounds as if it might possibly be something to do with the 'box? Gear change feels smooth and happy. It sort of knocks and rumbles and then is fine within a moment of changing gear. Any ideas? Happy to go back to the trader tomorrow and say this isn't right. Edited by swissheavy, Wed Aug 5, 2009 6:02 pm.

Done some reading and I suspect it's the flex disc. Off to the dealer we go! |

Are you going to have a go yourself, or will you get them to do it ? |

Get them to fix it. Only had it dropped off this evening and noticed it as soon as I changed gear! Massive silliness on my part for not having another go in it to make sure everything was OK before they went. I gave them a call this evening and they're happy for me to come back on Saturday and will book it in with the garage. However, I am quite desperately in need of the car so going to try and get them to have a look at it tomorrow, check the prop, and if it is it - get them to order the part from eurocarparts for Saturday. I don't fancy doing the distances I plan to do next week with this playing up. What were your thoughts Mike? |

I can confirm it is indeed the flex disc/rubber donut/prop coupling. The garage that MOTd the car even knew about it, so all's well that ends well, it's getting fixed. |

Need mine doing soon, some of the upchanges feel a little clunky which suggestes it's got some slack in it. |
