Recently had a diff oil change , which I optomistically hoped would bring the noise level down , but now the ASD light is on permanently , and I cannot get the triangle light lit .

Could it just be a loose connection ???

Should I be worried ?

Jeremy, I'm just in from the local, fully loaded, but Ithink all you have to do, is car out the the reset.
can't tell you the way to do it, but I think it's no. 5 pin on the diagnostic thing.

There's a how do it somewhere, maybe by Nickoliath. :ermm:

Open the bonnet and look for an 8 pin diagnostic port near where the shock absorber tops protrude into the engine bay. Near the battery. The port is usually on the part of the firewall that curves around the shock and battery. It is also usually covered with an L shape plastic cover.

Take a 3 meter electrical wire, start the engine, stick one end of the wire into pin 5, then while sitting in the drivers seat and watching the asd light ground the other end of the wire. The best place to ground the wire is usually on one of the front bolts that screw the drivers seat to the floor, you have to take of the plastic cover to get to the surface of the bolt.

Ground the wire for 1 second. The ASD light will go out then start to flash. Count the flashes. The flashes correspond to the following... 1-8 = times asd light flashes.

1 no error
2 ASD computer broken
3 brake light switch broken or wire interrupted
4 no revolution signal from front left wheel
5 no revolution signal from front right wheel
6 no revolution signal from rear axle
7 no revolution signal at all
8 magnetic switch or break light switch broken

Ground the wire for 20 seconds to clear the fault from memory. If there is a genuine fault the asd light will come back on. If it was a false error the light will stay off and all will function correctly.
If i remember correctly you must have the ignition turned on.

Do the test twice to be sure. Rumour has it that if it flashes 8 times, it's more than likely to be the OVP relay.
