Just a general note....it is well worth giving the dizzy cap screws a coat of grease (or copperslip?) whenever you find the time to replace your rotor arm...have just spent an unhappy half hour or so drilling out a sheared stud!

Yes I had it happen too. Dizzy cap held on by two long thin screws, one of them came off with no problem....the other one just snapped off when I turned it with the screwdriver.

It snapped off right at the bottm, flush with the metal base to the dizzy cap. I ended up by having to drill a hole in the metal base and then using a very long thin self tapper to secure the dizzy cap.

Its a nasty bodge, which I hate. At some point I will get a complete new distributor, but I think they are expensive though.

Bad design really, on other cars they just have spring clip things to hold it on, much better... cant break and very quick to got on / off.

Don't panic!

The dizzy cap is a solid bit of kit with locating lugs on the base....have re-attached mine with two suitably stout 'zip clips' (cable ties?)....an experiment rather than a bodge...methinks!

These wonderful inventions do not rust, are easy to remove and replace...and the engine doesn't seem to notice the difference..ha ha!

Remember steel into alloy isnt the best place for copper grease, normal grease is fine.
