Right I'm back from 3 months in hell no wait it was germany lol but thought stick the battery back in which the missus had charged up to make sure it was good and head out for a spin

No joy thought hmm orange light on maybe low on fuel so walked down to the petrol staition got a couple of litres
Take 2 still no joy any sugestions on what to check it turns over but won't start

Have you left any wires off from the battery? alarm, imobiliser wires etc.

Can you here the fuel pump prime? Are you getting a spark? Take coil lead off fron the dissy cap and fit a plug into the end, rest it against the engine and crank the engine to see if its sparking. If thats a yes, put the coil lead back on and unplug a lead from one of the plugs and do the same test. That way you know weather its the coil or dissy cap/rotor or not.


You may have have blown the OVP fuse when putting the battery back on. It wasnt charged while still fitted to the car was it? If it was then the OVP fuse needs checking first.

No wires off I think, don't have any alarm or imbolisers it is on the list to fit

No battery was out to charge will do the plug test - dizzy and rotar arm where new about feb along with new ht leads and plugs

Don't think I heard pump prime what would that mean and do I check

Ovp that's the wee silver thing with the red top

You can check to see if it's fueling by either cranking it over and pulling a plug out, see if it's wet. Or see if there's a sniff of fuel out the exhaust.

Spark...I usually take a plug out, leave the wire on it and ground to the body somewhere.

I then work my way back from there to find out which one of the two (or both) is missing and troubleshoot from there.

Whoopie she started first time ok there was a little stutter but gave her some welly and she fired up and ran rough for a fews seconds then as good as always no bother

Thanks for the suggestions guys but didn't need them now the clean and service to get to retro
