Hi

man!! looks like you have been busy!!

when you say "chain etc" what does the etc cover? did you by any chance check the valve clearance? if not, then you should add it to your list.

As Richy said! gears and diff is also a must.

I would also spend a few hrs checking:

fuel injectors and fuel pressure (paramount with the KE Jetronic)
dizzy cap and rotor arm
suspension, bushes/springs/shocks

Thanks for the reply Mazza....

Ive a docket here from Euro car parts from 1999. Car had 145k on it at the time. (172 at the moment, car has everyting, mots, receipts etc!)
Intermediat gear, timing gear, crankshaft gear, d rail, sliding rail (timing case) were all done according to this docket. No docket for an actual chain but theres no chain noise from her anyways thank god!

How would I go about checking valve clearences?

She definetly aint 185bhp, shes dead enough to be honest.

Ive heard IACV give trouble but these £278+ from MB...

Yes must change those fluids. What grades should I use??

Who would be the best people to have a look at my injection system? Ordinary mechanic wouldnt really do much would they?

I have a friend working in snap on diagnostics with all the gear. Might get him to have a look at it.

Anymore advice??

They don't really give out much power until around 4000rpm onwards. After that it should really pick up its skirt and take off. Although mine does give quite good power before that too and feels nice and torquey

Fitting new injectors is always a good idea on a car with that kind of millage. I replaced mine and it felt like i gained another 10 BHP. I paid around £100 all in with postage for all four from ebay. I think euro car parts may well sell them a bit cheaper but once you add on postage etc they may well end up being more.

A damn good tune up and valve clearances should make it feel a lot perkier too. Obviously do the valve clearances before the tune. ineed to pull my finger out and do mine.

hey

"Who would be the best people to have a look at my injection system? Ordinary mechanic wouldnt really do much would they? "

find yourself a mechanic that understands the Bosch ke jetronic (cis) injection system, the heart of the KE Jetronic is the fuel distrubitor and fuel dlvry, fuel pressure/dlvry test is a must!

have a look at the following and get to know the KE jetronic

"I have a friend working in snap on diagnostics with all the gear. Might get him to have a look at it."

ask your friend if he knows and understands the KE Jetronic, if he does! then you are in luck...he he!!
