Time to find some wheel studs/bolts for these. Anyone know either which lenghth should be used or alternatively how much of the threaded stud should protrude from the rear of the wheel so I can check what I have.

check whether they have a ball or taper seat, my MSW's of the same period as the Carat wheels needed tapered base bolts

Think you are right in that respect. The standard alloy bolts rock when I sit them in the holes.

If you hav a alloy wheel shop nearby, take one rim with you and tell them u want bolts for that and it's Merc fitment.
The wheel shop will provide the right length and will be fraction of the price compared to dealers...

most dealers wont even want to know about what they refer to as 'non-gen' wheels
