new 190 2.3 cossie owner here....

Will probably be in lots asking more than my share of daft questions from here on....

just purchased a 190 off pistonheads, admit I bought it blind over the blower because it was dirty cheap...some of you may have seen the ad on pistonheads...

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/1082939.htm

I actually live in Amsterdam so didn't have a chance t go look at it but am a bit of a car hoarder and unable to resist buying cheap old cars.... currently have a 95 bmw 740i, a 95 bmw 518touring, two skylines (r34 gtt, R33 GTR - wrecked) and just recently had a rather pretty red e46 m3 stolen from me here after 2 weeks of ownership....very distressing.....

the 740 is currently my daily driver, bought it at christmas for 800 quid, in six months it's only cost me a sert of brake pads and has covered over 7k miles now...wouldnt be so practical in the UK but here where everywhere is flat it's quite reasonable to drive!

anyway...the merc.....according to the ad it's been sat in a garage since 06, and needs a bit of love... depending on the state it's in under the bodykit, it will either be restored back to mint, or if it turns out to be a bit of a dog it's going to get stripped, caged and taken to the ring for some fun (only two hours for me by car so my regualr fun place)

This car has been dry stored & off the road since 2006.
The car has no MOT or Road tax.
It requires a light restoration & recomissioning.
The car has a full service history up to 2006.
Manual dogleg gearbox.
Previous MOTs from 1996-2006.
Various receipts & invoices.
4 good Tyres.
Original alloy wheels.
Half leather/cloth sports seats.
Timing chain last replaced in 2005.
All original & unmolested.
The engine starts, runs & drives but does require some fine tuning.

yadda yadda yadda blah blah blah...hi :D

Wotcha...yes the guy selling did say the pipe to the rear was leaking hence an issue with the sls....jury out until close inspection whether to dump the lot for track suspension or fix it if it's not too bad....

Hey Dennis,

not Dutch, British but I work for the Yamaha World Superbike team so am based here with Yamaha Motor Europe near Schiphol. Have to say Holland is a better place than the UK in the current economic crisis....

cheers fellas, thanks for the welcome. Just been out for a spin in the sunshine so thought I'd a couple of pics of the daily driver.... I'm a big believer in banger economics...as mentioned above this was a sub 1k motor bought at Christmas, so far has only cost me a set of brake pads and having covered over 200k miles still starts on the button and runs like a dream...got to love a lazy V8.... ;)

Welcome mate , you will find many of us on here believe in banger economics , in fact most of us tbh . The whole idea behind this site is to keep as many 190's on the road for as long as possible , for as little as possible .

My 3 daily cars have cost £350 , £470 & £500 respectively .
