My front tyres have worn excessively on the outer edge on both sides.
Is this likely to be caused by the tracking being out?

Yes.
This is the first thing to get checked.
If it's not the tracking then you may need to get some suspension parts checked.
How about the rears?
To be done properly the 190 needs a full 4 wheel alignment. Not that many places offer it but it makes a massive difference to the car.
The only places near me that do it are Mercedes and the larger Kwik Fit. KF were miles cheaper but it still cost around £150!

not quite true..........................the fronts can be done seperate.....................just that most garages dont know how to do it ^o)

on most cars the suspension has to be settled to do the tracking........................ie if the car has been jacked up,they will roll it back and forth to settle the suspension down......................190's however, you jack them up..let the car back down and then check them, otherwise false readings will be got.

tracking id the biggest suspect but i would get the balljoints checked as well,as these have been known to fail unexpectantly ;)
