I love offset.

Have any of you cool dudes got some nice pictures stashed on your pooters of W201s or cars in general with flared out arches? Anything considered?

I want a lot of material to look at to try decide what shape I want for mine, as I have to know before I can give the car to the bodyshop..

Its funny, in all the time I longed for widearches to fit my wheels I never actually knew exactly what shape I wanted..

Neil, I'm expecting some nice things from you :) (pleeease)

I really have to keep the motivation going as these last few set backs are making me lose some love for the car/project..

Does anybody remember the name of that Norwegian member who had a 735 8v decked on my exact wheels?? I can't find him..

Can't remember the Norwegian member i'm afraid. The one i really likes belonged to an ol member in Stone, Staffordshire and he was selling the car when he joined. He had 18" Audi wheels from an RS6 and moulded arches from an MG ZR that were aftermarket jobbies. But i know that business went bump before they even finished production of the car!

I am trying to find at the moment an old coachbuilding company with an english wheel to flare out my spare arches from the sheet metal already there, going for a wide E500E baby-brother look i think but tese kind of craftsmen are turning out to be more difficult to find than i had first imagined.

The graft/bond on route from another car i think is one of the only ways to go. It can be done well but if you're drifting you might want to make some spares out of fibreglass just in case! lol

Carl was always on about the square jobs from a Mantra widebody but i've not seen anybody selling those either. I am really interested in this thread too so anything would be appreciated.

I am thinking that there must be some bond on jobbies from the JDM aftermarket scene which will be able to fit, there are so many bloody types available, it's just tracking some down the right shape to be modded, and then finding a supplier.

Aka 'Thundersaloon' arches, kinda like Integrale Evo / E30 M3 jobs?
I think you'd have to have them made up from scratch tbh, a hell of a job in sheet metal but possibly an idea in GRP.
Rear doors would be interesting...

Dave, there is that wierd Round-Arch kit out there, but god knows who/where from...

Not a 190, but a really nice subtle flare job done on this W124 E60T AMG;

The flared metal work is what Im after.. Not going to go with anything bolt on.
The shop I will be using did a super job on my friends car, including really nice custom wide arches to run zero offset 14x8s:

I just want to find the right shape thats all. So far something like sunnys is on the shortlist,

but I think the norwegian one Im looking for had a slightly different approach. And that was ridiculously low..

That's him, Ollie! I think they look damn good for a set for £25!!! In fact, and i may get throttled for this, but i think they look better than the OEM Evo1!

The W124 estate is what i am going for, thanks for the photo, that i what they will be like. :)

Perfect!

The nylon washers sit between the front wing and its mounting point, pushing it out slightly further to accommodate wide tyres/alloys.

Only if you space it too far.
You're spacing it around the wheel opening, so if you space the front bumper apron by the same amount they will match up.
If you space too far, a gap will appear at the end of the small strip beneath the headlamp.

its me! :)
cars still ok! needs cleaning but back on the road soon
the 19" wheels are on my audi s4 at the mo, as i had to get the wheels machined for the merc centre hub, then use spiggot rings to locate the audi centres, unfortunatly 2 of the wheels got bent because of potholes so i now have 2 alloys on the audi that arent machined centres, so i wont be able to use them on the merc anymore.

Did anybody spot the £2000 Cosworth that was for sale in Leicester on Pistonheads a couple of months back?

That had some mental Dimma kit / Testarossa flared arches on the rear....looked madder than the mad hatter himself.
