Hi Guys.

As per the topic title could somebody recommend a specialist to supply & fit a reconditioned ASD diff to my 2.5-16? Willing to travel over to the UK and say a couple of nights if required.

Thanks in advance.

What about finding a good used item, and then if need-be, have it overhauled and fitted locally to you? Or even reconditioned in the UK and then shipped over to you for fitting?

Wonder what the ratios are for some of the other ASD cars - eg W124, perhaps some of the SL models, etc - would they fit?

I think you can buy the kit from Mercedes, at reasonable money. :ermm:

Will, good thinking but I'd really like a recon one rather than a used one as I don't want to be in the same position again for several years due to the mileage I'm doing not to mention the abuse. But thanks anyway.

Howdy Mister V8 man!

I'm looking into the purchase of a kit at present, what I'm more concerned about it the actual rebuilding of the diff in general and setting up the backlash correctly.

Hi,

Johnboy IRL- Contact these Guys.

You could also supply them with the
CW/p of your choice and change /
uprate your diff ratio at the same time.

You ship it to them and they
will then ship it back.

Thanks Gorilla. Have you used them? I can get the diff overhauled here, no problem but so far I can't find anybody that has actually rebuilt an ASD.

Hi,

Not for me but for some Ford guys
I know who were well pleased.

I would have thought with all the
Tarmac Rally Teams on the Green Isle
then getting it done would be quite easy ?

Also you have Harry Hockley Motorsport
in Powys, not to far off the Ferry ?
first class on all they do, but not cheap.

Did you get your diff rebuilt in the end?

Hi Andy,

I think there's a chap in Ireland who rebuilds/rebuilt ASD and LSD diffs. An MB technician or specialist - I think it's the guy who bought Michael's Evo-1.

He's very knowlegable, has a lot of backup and tooling/information at his disposal so if he can't do it personally then he'll know a man that can :D

Thanks for the info Guys.

@aemt. Diff not done yet, decided to hold off as I may soon need the head done also! So, the plan is to get both done and few other jobs together. I see €€€€€€€€ but maybe best to bite the bullet all at once.

John, Will is right, Ross (Cosmo 2.5-16) is the man to do it :D

I think he had a thread on it sometime ago. :ermm:
