Oh, the kind of people who hit me the other day when they were on the phone and not looking! I'm very bruised, and didn't recieve an apology. I am so aware of and courteous to Bikes and Motorbikes when i'm driving in London, hanging back, making space etc so all concerned are safe, i just don't seem to get the same respect back! (Sorry, really insert swear word hereed me off, i'm not banding all London cyclists the same).

He flew across the street and landed in a heap, and I was all apologies "I'm a cyclist too," etc. He brushed himself off and limped away on his bike, which as sod's law dictates, was fine. I have narrowly missed being 'doored' a good 20 or 30 times, and been hit (hospitalised) by a car once in 10 years cycling the city streets. Tbh when I'm cycling I don't expect motorists to cut me any slack, or even notice that I'm there. I am A LOT more aware and agile on a Bicycle than I ever am in a Car, here in London. When I drive around London I give cyclists a respectful amount of room, but don't treat them differently to anything else on the road. Often, being over-cautious around them can be the worst thing to do. The cyclist is pedalling along, perfectly in control, and the motorist sits 2 metres behind them, keeping pace (and causing a tailback). The cyclist is muttering to himself, "For fk's sake mate, overtake. You're driving a Mondeo, not a bloody double-decker. I'm not going to suddenly spaz out and carve into your path." Cycling on the Phone or Pavement is truly idiotic, and punishable with several punches to the centre of the face. ANYWAY! Back on topic... DIY Matte Black paint job, Bank-Holiday style! Although unless I am mistaken he has a 'second' poppup tent there so at least he has some class. He can camp at the side of the road when mr officer takes his keys away from being sh1t in charge of a vehicle.

I was googling matte black cars and it came up in the images, sometimes you get an odd random picture. I've been trying to find others of car showrooms of the 80's and 90's but can't find anymore. Maybe we shoudl start a thread and see what old pics we can get?

Member Posts: 996 Group: Members Member #2,447 Joined: March 23, 2008	I dont really get the matt black look on newer glamorous type cars. For some reason sporty newer cars need to be gloss shiny. But I think it works on older cars even those with the 'rat' look. I don't have any pictures but I recall in the early 90's when my friends and I started to drive, a neighbour purchased a very tatty red mini metro with steel wheels and dog-poo coloured interior! Over a weekend they chopped the springs and sprayed the entire car matt black with rattle cans. The whole car. Bumpers, door handles, body panels, the steel wheels etc. Add some tinted windows and a 'cherry bomb' exhaust and it looked......... well it looked oddly good actually. It turned heads and was actually quite cool. Shame I have no pictures Stu PS - I have no recollection of what happened to the interior!
