I dont like the hubcaps on my w124, one is damaged too, I dont plan to go the alloy route yet, I want cheap tyres for this car, until the perfect ones turn up (when hell freezes over).

So, what do you guys think about the 190 hubcaps ? I love em on 190s, but not 100% sure on the 124. What do you reckon.

Some W124s came with those hubcaps anyway Kenny. The ones in your first pic would obviously be standard for the later ones though.

I think they're quite a rare sight these days - many people would have upgraded to the later style ones over the years or fitted alloys etc. Found this on eBay - has a 124 part number etc too - wonder if the W201s use the identical cap and part number?

is it an illusion, the star on the w124 one looks slightly bigger, probably just the angle I guess.

Hmmm, my opinion is keep the later style as I just don't like the solid disc 190 type ones at all.

Sorry :$

If mine were in ok condition I would probably stay as is but 2 need replacing. Hmm, I will ponder on it.

will, I just noticed the w124 disc ones have a chrome rim.

That picture with the 190 hub caps on looks great, i would go with them... I think a nice set of 17" AMG monoblocks would look stunning though! :)

I love offset.

As wheeltrims go, the early ones are cool as they are oem-distinctive and half decent looking, the later ones IMO look crappy just like all crappy plastic things cable tied to a wheel do

B)

I'd wear them both, if I had a set of both. :D

One is slighty more sporty than the other in my humble opinion.

Let your mood dictate which set you wear! Alternate monthly!! Confuse the hell out of your neighbours !! :D

Why dont you remove the trims and leave it on steel? Just a quick spray the steel to get them back with a fresh black, and you have a new set of 'rims' lol.

If I find at least one steel rim, I will be going on those. I've got 3 in the garage. Once I've tried them out, and I really liked them.

Should try it out mate, just remove the hubcap and see. Its not a big deal ;)

As soon as I find some I will do but I want to wait for the perfect ones, and I have never actually seen them anywhere ever for sale ! Until then cheap rubber that is easy to find anywhere is my priority.

I have to say that I am one of the rare ones that thinks the standard circular trims on a 190 keep it looking classy and not cheap.

Saying that, they seem to make the wheels on the 124 look smaller that the ones you already have.

Why not try Halfords. They do several classy alloy wheel lookalike trims. Best of both worlds........not!
