After a long search I finally located the plastic moulding I have been searching for with a view to a permanent doorcard fix.

Black hard plastic 7mm strip U shaped with one internal lip.

Door card removed in normal way. Blown hardboard glued and pegged in the worst places and where necessary black electical tape put over as tempory aid.

Feed strip on from one end of door card. Needed Joys help to feed on as very tight once first half fed. Make sure it is pushed as far down onto the doorcard as possible to stop it coming offf as you push.

Replace door card.

Not perfect but difficult to spot difference once on.

Nice fix, I'm impressed. I have the same problem with three of my door cards, although the cards aren't as badly blown. The vinyl has come adrift and shrunk back so it now doesn't reach the edge of the card. Any advice on how you managed to stretch the vinyl back to reach the edge of the card and what glue you used to stick it back before inserting the U strip.

Appreciate any help you can offer.

many thanks

got the mouldings. Just got to find a tube to post them in. Now £3.25 each. I thought prices went down in a recession. I guess they will tell me it is the variance of sterling to other currencies. Robbing Bar Stewards

I finally found the time to have a go at the door cards using the trim Andy very kindly bought and posted to me, It took me ages to get the trim on, it`s a very tight fit, I started one card last night and continued this morning, here it is finished,

I going to do the other next weekend as my fingers ar far too sore, but the results certainly make it worthwhile.

Worth the effort tho', doesn't 'arf look good!

What we should 've done was to get Andy & Joy to have done all of ours last week, or at least, a masterclass!

Looks good Ian. I know it is tight but it has to fit in the window seal and if you have put glue in the frayed edges it will really push it back to the original size and hopefully hold it there. Glad it worked for you. B)

No one asked mate. I did have a spare piece of plastic as it happens. It isn't the perfect answer but I hope people find it an acceptable compromise.

Good. When you do it it might be a good idea to take the black window rubbers off the door and fit them to the mended card before you re fix the door card. Pasting the back of the card with a waterproof glue should also prevent water ingress. Particularly the top third.
