This is THE 16V meeting.

Only put your names down if you think you can come.

A good idea will be to meet at Dover and convoy to Hockenheim Only 407 easy miles. Motorway all the way.

The track itself is very good for first -timers, the armco is a long way back and the run off areas are huge, and not at all like Nurburgring.

Please also put your model and your home town, and Henger (Frank) who is organising the meeting will put your name onto the German list.

There are already over one hundred and fifty names, and people coming from Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Austria, Belgium, Holland, Poland & Switzerland.

All encouragements are appreciated. Costs will be posted as soon as they are known.(Last year it was £50 for the track) Our presence was very appreciated last year, and many of them had never seen a right hand drive car before, it was the first time I'd ever been referred to as exotic

Come on you lot, it's just like Retro, only warmer.

Robbie,

Cross channel ferry costs are about £50 ish return, we could go in the evening and even maybe get a block booking, Track costs last year were about £50.(IIRC). but this year we have the track to ourselves together with the BMW/Audi/Opel Omega car clubs are sharing costs too. basically all the car clubs that ran DTM at the same period as our 16V's. As soon as track costs are known we will post it up.

I can get from London to Hockenheim on one tank, and you will need at least half a tank for the track, say 3 or 4 tanks worth in all.

I think a visit to the factory is called for as well. Dont you? and maybe Nurburgring after Hockenheim.(But not essential)

You should also budget for a service before you go, and extra euro travel insurance/breakdown cover.

If you want to stay out on the track a lot , then upgrade your pads & fluid.

I cannot put my name down at the moment but I am interested in this trip.
If I did go I would look at going from Hull it would cost more on the ferry but I would save around 5 to 600 miles of fuel costs on the round trip. The Brabus never gets more than 25mpg so the overall cost will be similar.
Hull is worth considering for anyone in the North of England
Is this a camping trip or will you be staying in Hotels

Just checked the cost from Hull
It would still be cheaper to drive the 250 miles to Dover

I can recomend this hotel!
We staid at this hotel last time, and it was a-okay, walking distence to the GTG, AND you can have a superb meal and
local beer from the Hockenheim brewery 4min from the hotel.

Whilst they describe it as being a 16V Meeting, are they dead strict on allowing 16Vs only or are us charming 8V owners allowed too? :$

Also Johan, i had a look at that website and the reservations bit still seems to be coming up in German. Is there are a price on how much the hotel would be from 27th June - 29th June?

Thanks!

I think Jeremy went in his 2.6 last time?
I could understand them not wanting 8vs/12vs/diesels to park in lines with the 16vs, but the owners themselves should be welcome?

I think thay have pland it like this:

IF you are a owner of a M3, 16v, 500, Sierra, V8 you will be place into a "special" slot.
And if you have for ex. an AMG 3,2 you will be placed under the "Guest" list...

So this time i belive thay are aiming for a real DTM line up. sorry!

But please check and post a question on the german board so you dont get dessepointed....

I think we paid aprox 80eur for a double room, parking and breakfast

It does sound a bit 'clicky' already, though im hoping i've perceived that wrong.

I wasn't expecting to be able to park up with the 16Vs, but is there 'decent' parking available for non-16v owners. The last thing you would want to is to be driving for 7 hours and then be left to park in a nearby field or something!

Last year we parked in a round area called the "Conte Crystal" which was like a parade ring behind Sachs Curve, this year , the whole circuit is ours , and I would imagine that when there is a parade or a show, then it will be for 16V's only, but everybody with a 190 will be welcome, I am sure. As Neil said, I took my 2.6 last year, and apart from one guy who said I couldn't park in the centre of the ring , the other 200 said it was ok! In the end several 6 cyl cars turned up and we all parked together.

I must stress to you how friendly everyone is, and how appreciative they are that we drove from the uk to see them.

Everybody joins in everything.

It's people like that, that put me off going tbh!! But if you're saying that the majority are friendly and that they do appreciate that we've come all that way, then it should be a good one. I'm not one to be afraid to tell someone where to stick their directions! :) Where the hell do they think they are from, the Ferrari owners club??? Sheeeeeesh!

Whilst i'm not expecting to be 'allowed' to park up inbetween two DTM Evo IIs, i just dont someone taking the piss and make us go wayyyyy over there. It would be great to part a part of this!

Jez, i'm following your instincts here bud. You've always spoken highly of the majority of the guys at the 16v meet so i'm right behind you (no homo)

Look , we had a really good time, and I promise you was well worth going, the drive there & back was terrific, and the track is super fast & safe. Lets face it , there's always one fly in the ointment, and if they gat arsie about letting you on the track in your 8V then you can always drive mine...........howsthat. there was a lot of jumping into each others passenger seats, and I know there are a few cars I want to go in.

Not really. Oh forgot to tell you, you can stay 3 persons in some rooms for 110 Euro for all three guests, or 95 Euro for two persons in a double room. Biggest expensive for us in Sweden are probably petrol costs, we have 720km from the Puttgarden ferry terminal in northern Germany, and then another 400km driving through Denmark, and we need to take two ferry's too. So it gets rather expensive for us. One litre of 95 unleaded cost around 1.10 Euro (at least when i was in Germany for new years). So around 2000 Euro just getting to the Hock and back again, and another 170 Euro for the ferry.

Since the Euro gone up a fair bit in the last 6 months we pay pretty much the same for one Euro as we do for one British pound!

Hi Everybody,
i'd like to clear some things. This Years meeting will be a DTM revival so all the Streetversions from the DTM Cars are invited.
Of course everybody else is as always welcome but the thing is that at the Innfield only the streeversions will be allowed to park. ( and the same goes for the racetrack)

The reason is not that we think we are something special or the Ferrari Owners club ;) But that if we would allow everyone else to park there it would turn into a "everyone" Meeting. So we would have Cabrio's , Tourings and s.o but not an DTM meeting.
I had several requests from the E30 Boys to park also beetwen the streeversions but had to refuse it because of the explained reasons.

Hopefully that is understandable. Although i'm one of the Organizers from the Meeting i'll have to park also beside the "DTM cars" because i can't come with my Evo ! ( Yes it'll be a E30 Cabrio :$ )

But i 've not a problem with that cause the Weekend will be great. You'll have also the Tuner GP with the Driftchallenge the same day at the Hockenheimring with many Tuned cars which will be also worth the Trip. You'll see many cool cars at the DTM Revival Meeting- and trust me you'll have the possibility like jeremy said to drive on the passenger seat at one of the cars ( cause there will be many on the racetrack).

So like i said everyone is welcome and in my opinion you won't regred it but if you don't like the way the meeting is planned i can understand it - but unfortunatly that's the only way for us to make it happen.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Bye
Maki

btw. Vishal if you won't come .....don't forget what will happen ( like i wrote in the sms before i went to Australia )

Brilliant trip last year
I've emailed Henger to put me down for this year too. V don't worry if you don't have a 16v I'd say still worth the trip. Everyone was very friendly and pleased that you had made the effort. I was amazed at how properly prepped the cars were there.

Jez Convoy route has to be past Spa / Liege rather that busy Autobahn awesome empty road

Just to help you out a little bit Jeremy - i'm going to write as much as possible about the meeting so that everyone has all the informations needed ;)

As Jeremy pointed out - so far about 220 cars have been registered for the meeting .

The meeting consists of 3 main parts.

1) The first one is the main meeting which will take place on Saturday the 27th June . You can find an overview with the registered cars here -> push me

Because the space is limited you have to register for it , so that we can guarantee you a space between the other "DTM cars".
It has already been confirmed that we'll have some original DTM cars from the different brands ( Berlin 2000 Evo 2 , Jägermeister Evo500 and s.o. ) Some of this cars will be also driven on the racetrack and as a bonus maybe by a former DTM Driver B)

There will be also different tuner / companys at the meeting that were also involved in the development of the DTM engines or the cars :)

So there will be plenty to see at the meeting.

2) The second "part" of the meeting will be driving on the Racetrack. You can find an overview of the registered cars here -> push me

Everyone who wants to participate in that event will have to register seperatly in that list. So if you are registered in the first list for the meeting you'll have also to register again for this event.

We'll have the racetrack on Saturday the 27th June.

From 09:00 - 14:00 a clock we'll have the small part of the track for us . Here a picture from it.

Posted Image

From 14:00 - 16:00 we'll have to make a brake cause the organizer from the Tuner Grand-Prix / Driftchallenge will need the complete track for his event.

From 16:00 - 17:00 a clock while they clear the track we'll have again the small track for us.

From 17:00 - 19:00 a clock we'll have the complete F1 Grand-Prix Track for us B) ( if they'll manage it to clear the track earlier than 17:00 a clock we'll be able to go earlier on the complete Track )

The price for the Racetrack is 100€ for pre-registration and 200€ if you register at the meeting.

Pre-registration is also recommended because number of participants will be limited so that it can happen like the last 2 years that there aren't any free spaces available if you want to register at the meeting.

Deadline for pre-registration is the 29th May 2009

3) The third "part" of the meeting will be the mobile Dyno ( MLPS ). You can find an overview of the registered cars here -> push me

Everone who wants to take his car on the dyno has here the opportunity. You'll hav also to register seperatly for this "event".
The costs for this are 35€ and in the past you had the opportunity to messure the car 2-3 times in a row ;-)

Again the same rule like at the other "events" participants will be limited to about 25 cars.
So pre-registration is again recommended.

Everyone who wants to register whether it is only for the meeting or for more events can write Me ( Maki ) , Frank Henger or to henger@w201-16v.de a PM and we are going to put the person on the list for the event he wants.

We don't try to make any profit out of this meeting ( which you can see from the veeery low prices we charge ) but we have of course to cover our costs which aren't exactly low  but we think it's worth organizing such a meeting so we can revive the old DTM and have a meeting with many attractions so no one will be dissapointed ;-)

If you have any further questions or something is still not clear feel free to ask and i'll try to answer.

Best regards

Maki

Camping is on site correct ? Any idea of price ?
Is camping the night before, the night after or both ? Ie, friday night or saturday night ?

I am still hoping to tag this on to the front of my europe trip. I wont be in my 16v, or even a 190 but at least it will be a merc, I can bring photos as proof :) :)
