cool, there are some really cool photos on there! I guess you need a certain type of camera to be able to take these shots properly though, right?

I'm glad it's just not me then. It looks fine on the smaller shot that dave has done but on the original it seems to take away something from the car, the front doesn't look quite right.

or maybe i do need specsavers

Either way, there's nothing like a good looking 190E, except maybe, a good looking woman, but then they age, whereas a 190e doesn't. :D :D

Look at the side of the car in the HDR pic, you can see the reflection of the track better than in the original, and you can see more detail on the brake disc, yet in the background the sky is not just one grey and the hill side looks a bit more detailed too! I didnt get it at first..

no not a t all.
need tree copies of the same image.each one with different EV.maybe Neil will tell us more about EV.
as i understood it it is the exposure levels that act the most in this.thats why my single comy doesn't look that hot and awesome.

Ahhh I get it. So if you had a tripod set up or something and took the same shot at 3 different settings then it would work... So who is going to take the first true HDR shot of a 190 then :)

Ah, so you use the three pics and take the bits you want from each picture, meld them together and get a picture with differing exposures in each part. Clever.

Also, this is quite easy with a digi SLR as with mine you can set it to take three shots at once - one mid range and then one with higher exposure and one lower.

Neil's the man to give a professional opinion on this, but in the meantime, my 2p worth is, a high definition shot can be enlarged, without any loss of definition. B)

Rupert - which SLR camera do you have?

Took me a while to decide but after noticing all the small details in the first pic, the HDR is a lot better. Could do with being a touch darker maybe to make it look a bit more 'natural'.

But i like it!

weneakhborz, I'll be out taking some shots tomorrow, don't have my stand yet, but will try and get some triple exposure shots if the weather is nice for you to play with if you want.

HDR is something I haven't remotely messed with yet, as I tend to steer clear of overall 'effects' on images - if I want to retain a highlight or shadow detail or introduce higher/lower satruation to certain areas of an image, I'll mask it and do it in layers.
As far as I know, optimum result with HDR are from RAW images, the more the merrier - 9 instead of 3, for example in 1/3-stop increments.
You can set the camera to 'auto-bracket' the exposures in increments of your choice, or you can do it manually.

I have no doubt that a great many billboard ads out there already utilise HDR to some degree.
I don't watch the new Dr Who habitually, but their extremely overlit / punchy style really reminds me of HDR.

The light was really flat yesterday so it made the shots hard, however, while I was out I got 5 mins of sun and managed to get one set - when I get home I'll get them off the camera and email them to you if you pm me you address
