to adjust the parts, you have to align the gap of the clamp with the pin in the tube.

Getting into reverse shouldn't be a problem this way.

I love offset.

I finally have a 16v shifter.

Trying to take it apart now to put my bronze bushings in.

How do you get this part out from the housing?

Are there circlips to remove from the end or do you remove the white plastic cap thing?

Any help appreciated :)

Thanks for the pic Matt, though Im still a bit of a loss.

Part 104 looks like the first to come out, but I don't have a bolt there.

Anyone else taken one apart?

Ill have another look tonight with the diagram to hand :)

that bolt is for the outer assembly, you have already removed the gear leaver from the paddel housing (part5)

you need to remove bolts 56 from 53, pin 47 has two circlips in which will break easy if not careful!

main rod will pull through.

the two circlips on pin 26 also need removing (part 32)

looking down inside part 8 there will be a circlip, i broke this by accident which released the spring allowing part
11 out,

new circlips from MB are about 20p each.......just in case

lubricate it all on reasembly

the hard part is putting it back together again--the sandwich clips kept sliding out of place (item #71 in the pics)i couldn't do it myself, so i sent it to a friend of mine on the rev (glen). the key is to use an alignment tool when stacking the spring washers and shift arms. once all the arms are in place, the alignment tool can be slid out. then the rod assembly slides right in. he used an 11mm socket

by the way guys, did you notice pics of my 8v zendermobile are on chris martens' imageshack pics? apparently i not only have a ton of british fans, but now the germans are hopping on my bandwagon

that bolt should be covered by a plastic covering which should appear yellowed. the plastic covering iirc should pop out or slide out of the black plastic shifter housing

Just as Nick described, though I only had to remove one circlip on each bar, and I didnt break the other one either
Jebus the standard rubber bits are crappy.. Worn away to nothingness.

Will press out the old ring and in with the bronze tomorrow in work :)

Thanks all

I can see how it would be tricky if you took the whole thing apart, but I only needed to get the fork off to get the bushings in, I wont be opening the rest of it.

i striped every component down, tbh dave when i did it i found worn parts and replaced accordingly.

the hard part is getting it to align but that was until i had the paddels in tha correct position and the o rings held in place with a screwdriver then it all went together fine.

the trick is to aply grease that hold things together and just take your time

I do see your point, but I have the trans. swap on saturday so I'm a bit pressed for time. Ill probably take it out/apart again in the future. Or maybe nab a 2nd one somewhere to rebuild at my leisure!
