39mm apprently been looking into this myself theres some on ebay for 8 - 15quid ... but MB do them at 2.50 each, so its better paying an extra 10er and getting all 16 from there imo (assuming you got locking nuts) |

the length of lug bolt you need depends on the thickness of the hub combined with the offset of the wheel. there's no formula since wheel manufacturers don't specify hub thickness. you have to try different lug bolts. the size for stock wheels is 39mm for the shank of the lug bolt. but if you have another type of wheel, you may require a shorter lug bolt. an extremely short lug bolt would be for the clk wheels (modern version of bundt cake wheel),. something between that size and the 190e lug bolt would be the w116/w123 lug bolt for original bundt wheels. to test the lug bolts, with the car jacked up, spin the wheel to see if it hits the e-brake. if you're not sure, you can drive the car a short distance (20-30 meters) and if you hear a clicking sound, it's hitting the e-brake. the sound goes away if you slightly raise the e-brake handle a few centimeters |

cutting down stock lug bolts is also an option, but before you cut them down, insert a nut onto the lug bolt, threaded in all the way. after you cut it down, remove the nut so that you ensure your bolt is threadable. |

steels have a thin hub, and require very short lug bolts. there are lug bolts for steel wheels, and that's what the CLK wheels use |
