I've got a ready fix for those of us lucky enough to be too thin for our leather seats.

To stop the sliding about, I went to Robert Dyas , and for a tenner, got a very long anti-slip bath mat.

You know the ones with the suckers on the underside, & very grippy on topside.

Place it on your seat and it stops ALL the sliding ........perfect fix, & cheap too. (you could probably use one of your grans  )

has anyone got any pics of a proper track car interior to hand ?

certainly the full leather would have to go and be replaced with light weight racing seats, but what do you do with the big space at the back ?

do you chuck the door cards ? what do you replace them with ?

door cards dont weight much and youd need something to replace em anyway. Get the dash flocked lol, makes anything look like a race car, will save you a mint in buying properly useful race stuff :P...

get it flocked, a momo wheel, cheap bucket seats from halfords, a chrome ball gearknob, some extra guages on the dashtop and of course a bright red fire extinguisher lol. of course its not gonna improve ur safety or anything much on track but ur mates will think ur senna haha...or a **insert swear word here**.

you win some, you lose some

Track or race prep are two different things , race prep will cost you 2-2500 quid .

Race prep is different depending on what race series you enter ....... its basically about safety , roll cage , fire extinguisher , electrical cut-out etc.
getting yourself prepped with a licence , suit , helmet etc will be another 1-1500 quid .

DTM for example was open cheque book with many very expensive weight saving parts .

I thought you didnt have any money .........

the car is becoming a long term project jezza, as i am picking up my new 2.6 from stwat next weekend there is no reason to rush this any more as i have another car for my daily. and i have full permission from my folks to have use of the drive :)

when its finished i want to start doing track days but also use it on the road at weekends ect.. so looking into doing a mix between the 2 really mate.

just doing a little research hence the questions, as i want to be fully aware of all my options and the work involved/ cost.

i know interior wise i could just remove the seats ect before a track day but im just researching my options

if you dont have electric seats buy a decent racing bucket and harness, an extinguisher, and an option you could look into is a half cage, my mate in australia put one into his 190 2.5 diesel (dont ask me why, yes he's an idiot) and covered it in leather (though i still maintain its probably vinyl). looks pretty good and unobstructive, he got the idea from what tvr's had from the factory

Fair enough its always good to plan , have something to look forward to ?

My car is prepped for track-days , brakes are the main thing , then making sure your steering / suspension are safe . then some track-day tyres on a spare set of wheels is a bonus , if you like fit a harness , then gut the interior , spare wheel , tools etc ., then off you go ........

ezpz
