W201 Build Threads; Trying to compile a definitive list

After viewing some rather incredible build threads on other marque sites, I thought it would be a good idea (shamelessly stolen from another forum who stole it from someone else) to compile a definitive list of the major W201 builds undertaken by members here.
A kind of 'Hall of Fame' if you like, but without any inference of heirarchy or competition.
Nice, clean threads not cluttered with random chat but instead filled with explanation, detail and examples of ingenuity.

Up to now, I have sought out and found detailed, picture-filled build & modification threads from:
Cra_arc
Energie
Taint
Zaber12

I know there are more out there, but it would be nice if other members could pipe up with a few suggestions.
It's a shame UKMercMan Steve is so damn secretive, as the results of his builds are fookin' amazing!

The 'W201 Epic Builds' thread could have an entry for each member / car along the lines of:
- A 'from this' picture
- A 'to this' picture
- A link to the Build Thread for that car
- Anything else we think is relevant?

If any of you are a little lost, CLICK HERE.

Suggestions & comments most welcome :)

Theres also Racings turbo thread (still updated on the Rev) and a couple of good builds from mb190klubb too. I think its a good idea. All we need are links really, not like we have to post everything all over again! Well, Chris and I will have to when we are done but hey, thats another thing :D

Aye, that's what I was thinking.

Some of the Golf threads I cited go into quite insane detail, and really show the meticulous nature of the builders - as someone less adept at mechanical stuff, I really appreciate that level of explanation accompanied with stacks of clear pictures!
Aside from what folk on here get to see, it makes for one hell of a historical document for the car in question...

Might have a go at that on my 16v project too, there will be plenty of welding, upgrades, rebuilds and painting to show as the car is rebuilt (whilst still trying to run it as long as i can)

Good idea, but if dave_irl and CrysAk can post theirs first i can nick some ideas :P :P

That is one of your better ideas, Neil; I'll post the results of the EFI/EDIS venture when it is complete, but progress is a tad slow at present, as I'm having an inlet manifold fabricated which will cause some delays...

theres an inlet manifold for 16v on ebay at the moment, apprently theres 10 of them, might be worth taking a look?

Contacted the bloke - he has not reverted. But - I have discovered another bloke in Northampton (ex-Cosworth, I think) who used to build hot versions of our engines and knows them well. So I've sent off a spare manifold to allow him to measure the ports, etc., and he's going to fabricate.

He's worked out, on the back of a fag packet, the inlet length, etc, size of injector, airflow needs, and we'll use Jenvey DCOE TB's, which are very handsome.

So, there will be a delay, but we are trying to take a view on producing 'kits' at a reasonable price, obviously picking the brains of others (Jesper, SilverCosworth, et al.) who have done this.

The plan is to produce something quite poisonous and have some fun before the petrol runs out!

Before I am forced onto the chipfat route!

Well it's all a bit speculative, but we have a lot of interest in co-operation with a view to limited production. I'm happy to spend the dough to find out, though...

Without going off topic too much, converting to EFI is not as expensive as alot of people think.

Just research and plan well.

Q. agree, Matt, I think, as Jesper has pointed out, that the dyno work is prolly the single biggest item!

For the sake of the time taken etc, I really think Silvercosworth's kit is quite a reasonable option.
Now, if only I had a spare £1500...

And a spare 6 months to wait, as rumour has it! Poor sod; he clearly underestimated demand, if what I read on the Rev is correct...

So guys, any more ideas of who's done major builds / engine swaps / etc?

- Big Al Merc transplanted Benny's old 2.3-16 lump into his 8v.

Any more?

I just wanted to create a definitive list of member's cars that have undergone major work, with links to write-ups / pics etc.
No rules or exceptions, everything welcomed - restorations, engine swaps, body conversions, whatever.

If you've either got a few threads on your rebuild, or want to write a fresh stage-by-stage one, go for it and post it in here!
Yours has undergone a hell of a transformation!

EDIT!
I've had a better idea;

Now I know that a few folk think we have too many sections/subsections on this board already, but how about a subsection of
Show Off Your 190 entitled Projects & Restorations?

That way, the threads I've rounded up so far could simply be moved from their current locations into there, rather than having to
find a thread that contains a list of threads!
It also means that whenever folk embark on new Projects (Jeremy!), they can simply start one new thread in there.
We could lay down one simple rule: One Thread Per Car.

Whadya reckon?

Moved and pinned, though there are a lot of things pinned here now, might have to tidy up a bit.

Just one question Neil, do I start a new build thread seeing as the car has changed? Though its essentially the same project :P

Im thinking Ill continue it in the silver car thread? hmmmm
