Newbie Posts: 18 Group: Members Member #2,531 Joined: April 15, 2008	hi guys im a newbie! my poor 190e has been laid up for a year now and i now have the funds to get her back on the road where she belongs! my 190e is 2.0 litre auto 1989 ...had her since 1997 83,000 when i bought her now shes done 164000. I now have a problem . I bought some cheap pads off ebay and since then the front brakes smell and smoke....badly! strangely the brake light on the dash has come on saying i need new pads??? but ive just fitted new ones!!!! also as i pull away the abs system goes mad ..i can hear it kick in every few seconds but im not applying any brakes or doing more than 5mph! also ..after fitting a 2nd hand wiper motor [fitting it ive cracked my windscreen....ooops! ( anyone know how much new one will cost ...or maybe ill claim on my insurance! ...........theres more ( ....when i fitted the windscreen wiper assembly/motor i reckon ive moved something [ sorry not a mechanic ...uve prob guessed!] because now when i start her up ...i press my foot on the brake pedal...........and it goes to the floor!!! ..if i pump the pedal a couple times ....it gains pressure ......then goes again!!!! ....odd! wasnt like that before she was laid up. ive asked around only thing ive been told is maybe the smoking/ overheating is due to cheap/poor quality pads. any ideas chaps????? cheers Stevieb999

Newbie Posts: 40 Group: Members Member #1,160 Joined: April 12, 2007	I have a problem with my ABS, the light comes on randomly and stays on until I re-start the engine, it tends to come on quicker if I've been using the car for short journeys, if I've used it for long journeys it may not come on for a day or two. If some one has a copy of the PDF file could they re-post it as the link no longer works. cheers
