You wouldn't think that you could get 0-60 in 5.8 secs and nearly 170mph from under 300bhp. These cars really are fcuking awesome! |

Would like to see a Evo 2 in Brabus red. Be niceto see the 3.6 24v Brabus 190 against an Evo II around a track bet it would be a close call, the EVO would probably have tighter handling. |

Weneakhborz found this, thought it belonged in here...![]() Could this thread be relocated to 190 Pictures and renamed The Brabus Thread? If anyone has pic collections of other 190 Tuner/Styling editions (Carlsson, Carat Duchatelet, AMG, Lorinser, Zender, WALD etc) then perhaps we could start a single Pic thread on each? |

Brabus 190E 3.6S Leichtbau (Light weight)![]() Brabus 190E 3.6S Leichtbau. It was based on Mercedes 190E with 6 cylinders 2.6L engine. Mercedes Benz 190E or the "Baby Benz" was the most popular model of the Mercedes range from the middle of 80's to the begining of the 90's. Good performance and moderate price (it was almost 2 times cheaper than the top model of the range- 190E 2.5 -16) made this 6 cylinder modification the most attractive for the sporty driving oriented Mercedes drivers and almost all tuning companies offered their interpretations (including engine conversions from 2,8 to 3,6 L) of the car. So what's so special with the Brabus 190E 3.6S Leichtbau? ![]() Top of the cylinder head coloured in red- typical Brabus. Additional instruments for the control of oils temperature. First off all, it was the most powerful naturally aspirated "Baby Benz" using the M103 engines. (with 2 valves per cylinder) (later Brabus, Hagmann and Lower presented 190E conversions with the M104 (24V) engine swaps- but about them next time maybe) Brabus offered 3.6 L conversions for almost all Mercedes range- from the little 190E to the top offroader 300GE. Those conversions brought 245 horse power for the engines without catalyst converters and 239 hp for those with the catalysts. But for this very special model, Brabus made even more job- the compression ratio of engine was raised from the 10:1 to 10,5:1, sharper camshafts with new timings were instaled. As well as the bigger valves, sport exhaust system with sport exhaust manifold and spark plugs which could displace the heat from the engine better. It resulted in the max power of 272 horse power and max torque of 365 nm. Secondly, it was the fastest also. Acceleration times for the standard sprint from 0 to 100km/h measured by various auto magazines took 5,9- 6,4 seconds. And 22,9 - 23,5 seconds for the sprint from 0 to 200 km/h (for the comparison- Hagmann 190E with the bored to 3.4L M104 swaped engine (300 hp and max torque of 390nm ) couldn't do any better- 6,3 and 24,4 seconds) Not only engine, but also 40 percent lock limited-slip differential which gave the car excellent traction, helped little Brabus to achieve those stunning numbers. As well as the large and wide (but light) Monoblock 1 alloy wheels. ![]() Picture shows all 3 coolers- one in the rear spoiler and two in the front of the radiator. Furthermore, it had few very interesting and extraordinary technical solutions. 3 additional oil coolers to prevent overheating were instaled- one for the engine, one for the gearbox and one for the rear axle. The last one found it's place in the rear spoiler of the car! And finally, it was the only one lightweighted 190E Merc, I have ever seen. It weighted 130 kg less than the basic car. This was achieved by removing rear seats, exchange of the front seats to the sporty extra light kevlar seats which weighted only 2,5 kg each. What is more, electrical soon roof, electrical windows, the mechanism for the heating of front seats and even radio were removed. The cabin of the car was stiffened by roll cage of aluminium. ![]() 2 kevlar seats in front and aluminium roll cage in the back With all those modifications Brabus "Baby Benz" managed to take the Hockenheim track's little lap in 1.19,8 minutes (for the comparo- Hartge BMW 325i with the from M5 swaped and 286 horse powered engine- 1.23,6 mins) As far as i know only one or two Brabus 190E 3.6S Leichtbau cars were made. Not surprising, when you see the price- more than 125000 german marks! And that was the cause why trackday lovers preffered cheaper BMW M3 modified by various tuners. BMW M3 had one more argument- it had 2 doors (like every real sport car) Today, however, Brabus 190E 3.6S Leichtbau remains one of the most interesting Brabus models from the 80's. The only one succesfull attempt to make "Baby Benz" a true racing car still legal for daily drive on the public roads. |

brabus news 14 November 2007 Dubai, UAE: Gargash EnterprisesGargash EnterprisesGargash Enterprises News | Profile | Officers , General Distributor for Mercedes-Benz and BRABUS in Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, has been representing the BRABUS brand in the UAE since 1997. BRABUS, who recently celebrated their 30th anniversary, chose the 9th International Motor Show in Dubai to unveil the latest addition to their super car range, the BRABUS ROCKET. The latest BRABUS special model, based on a Mercedes-Benz vehicle, delivers performance that only a very few of the world's super sports cars can match. The idea of dropping an immensely powerful engine into the engine bay of a sedan with almost indiscernible exterior modifications now reaches its latest pinnacle with the debut of a new 'wolf in sheep's clothing.' "The advances achieved by BRABUS in the ROCKET start from a high baseline," stated Wassim Derbi, Marketing Manager of Gargash EnterprisesGargash EnterprisesGargash Enterprises News | Profile | Officers . "With cutting edge technology, style and performance, this model clearly outperforms its competitors and is already a winner with our discerning customers." The ROCKET is powered by a twin-turbo BRABUS SV12 S engine, fitted into the tight confines of the four-door's engine bay with almost surgical precision. The engine is based on the latest 600-series twelve-cylinder engine and was developed by BRABUS with the goal of combining maximum power with exquisite running smoothness and maximum environmental friendliness. The engine peripherals also underwent numerous modifications: Larger turbochargers, a more efficient intercooling system and a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with four exhaust pipes and low-back-pressure metal catalysts are all part of the engine concept. Newly programmed engine electronics orchestrate the perfect interaction of all new components and contribute not only to maximum power yield but also to meeting the latest EURO IV emission limits. The BRABUS SV12 S Biturbo engine, also available for all current Mercedes-Benz 600 and 65 models with twin-turbo V12 engine, produces a maximum power output of 730 PS (720 hp) / 537 kW at 5,100 rpm. Peak torque is 1,320 Nm (974 lb-ft), but is limited electronically to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft), available from a low 2,100 rpm. The top speed of 365.7 km/h (227.2 mph), limited electronically for street-legal operation to 350 km/h (217 mph), is not the only attribute that elevates the BRABUS ROCKET to the very top of its segment. The four-door is also among the fastest accelerating cars in the world: 0 - 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.0 seconds, 0 - 200 km/h (124 mph) in 10.5 seconds, 0 - 300 km/h (186 mph) in 29.5 seconds are numbers as unique as this exclusive BRABUS automobile itself. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a modified five-speed automatic transmission and the BRABUS locking differential. To keep the enormous performance potential of the world's fastest sedan safely in check at all times the vehicle's aerodynamics, suspension and brakes were modified extensively. To make the suspension even more agile and safe, BRABUS engineers and test drivers in cooperation with Bilstein have developed a custom-calibrated height-adjustable coil-over suspension for the ROCKET. Maximum stopping power is yet another active safety feature offered by the BRABUS ROCKET. The high-performance brake system features vented ceramic brake discs in size 375 x 36 mm (14.8 x 1.42 inches) and 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers on the front axle. The giant size of the brake components and the enormous vehicle performance necessitate the use of BRABUS Monoblock VI or S light-alloy wheels with 19-inch diameter. The BRABUS ROCKET features 8.5Jx19 wheels in front with 255/35 ZR 19 tires and 10Jx19 rims with 285/30 ZR 19 tires on the rear axle. The BRABUS ROCKET also meets the highest expectations of the most discriminating customers when it comes to the interior: The cockpit is upholstered with BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara and there are Carbon-fiber applications as well as an ergonomically shaped BRABUS sport steering wheel and the speedometer with 400-km/h (250 mph) dial. "I am so proud of all that we have accomplished in the 30 years since our opening. Never in my dreams could I have fathomed the success and numerous achievements we would realise. The ROCKET is a winner in all aspects of the word, and Dubai is definitely the perfect city to introduce the car into the Middle East market," said Mr. Bodo Buschmann, Founder and President of BRABUS. BRABUS is the world's largest independent automobile tuner and considered to be a car manufacturer by the German Federal Motor Vehicle Registration Agency. It was recently voted 'Most Popular Tuning Brand' by 'Auto Motor und Sport' for the second year in a row. Its tradition of building legendary special models is as long as it is successful. What started in 1984 with a Mercedes 190 equipped with a V8 engine, led eventually to the BRABUS E V12, that in 1996 set a new world record for fastest street-legal sedan in the Guinness Book of World Records with a top speed of 330 km/hr. Today, that same record is held by the BRABUS ROCKET with a top speed of 365.7 km/hr. "The new top-of-the-line model range from BRABUS is once again a technological pacemaker, with pioneering innovations geared to enhanced speed, as well as safety and comfort," added Mr. Ewan Ramsay, General Manager of Gargash EnterprisesGargash EnterprisesGargash Enterprises News | Profile | Officers . "I have no doubt that the ROCKET will influence the future of automotive development and be a huge success in Dubai." -Ends- |
