When I went cross-country with Jack Beckers, I'm sure he pressed a switch near the hazard light switch on the gearknob surround to make his go up and down?

Oh that, ill have alook i might have a picture some where.

You taking her down abit?

Right Colin i think there should be a lever, you move it down to lower the car its i think near the SLS valve.
It a piece of metal attached to the valve.

What this does is the fluid in the struts should release fluid and the back of the car should gradually lower. I dont know how much you can take it down by maybe around 20-25mm.

Yeah, an adjustable rod connected to it, and i think the other end connect to an arm that i think is attached to the sway bar with a clamp.

Two turns raises/lowers the vehicle 1"

To lower the car shut the engine off and turn the lever every two times turn the car on run it at 1500rpm and let it settle keep doing this untill you get the level you want.

Lewis

Edit: Colin its not a nut, its like a rod/lever as mentioned above

Here , you can see that it clamps onto the sway/roll bar, is this thread not worth a pinny? Someone may also want to lower their SLS.

Heres some diagrams:

Colin make sure you let the SLS settle and take it down slowly. It will also make the ride alot better and handle like its on tracks, but just take note of the above and you'll be fine.

Make sure you get a picture of before and after B)

Suspension:

Hydro-pneumatic height adjustment system (3 positions: rough roads, highway, track)

The EVOII automatically lowers itself, first at 30mph and at 55mph.

now the height is calculated on those 2 hols in the rod and then you adjust the ball rod that goes into the valve

Hey Guys,

Been a bit quiet for a while. Have actually been trying to sell that car ! But ended up buying a '89 500se with a stonking sounding exhaust. However, the 2.3-16 is keeping me happier. Replacement of of front brakes not urgent but is imminent within 10,000k's.
Now I've decided that either, I get my asking price or I keep it, more leaning towards keeping it. Last year I replaced the SLS struts with new. Now I'm looking to lower the rear a little bit to balance it up and may even look at EVO 1 spoilers front and back. I'm a bit confuzled with regard to the pic posted above. I'm not totally mechanically dumbed out but what exactly needs to happen to that lever to lower the car. Does the nut need to come off the lever and then teh lever turned? or does teh nut come off and be repositioned on the next hole. Would be awesome if some clarifies, cheers.

When you remove the nut that locates the self levelling lever you can manually raise and lower the car using the lever with the engine running. I can't remember which hole mine was set into as I only removed it to check the self levelling system was working. It raises the car quite a bit when fully raised though fully lowered dint seem to make that much difference. Looking at the photograph it seems that you should be able to get fine adjustment of the height using the adjusting screw (the rod that the nut is bolted too seems to be adjustable).

I can now answer this question.
The rod with the nut in the middle is threaded one way at one end, the other way at the other end. Thus turning the nut one way spins the rod into its endpieces, turning the other way spins it out of its end pieces.
Great system. Except when it's corroded like bollocks and just snaps in half instead. Oh well done putting it in a bugger of a place to get to as well.

Anyone got the part number for it or a spare one that isn't buggered? Also can you take it off the roll bar clip? There's a screw to get it off the sls lever but that's corroded to hell too. Do I need a whole new SLS valve? Roll bar?? SLS system complete???? New car?????????? Feels like it right now.
