well ive just been to B&Q and bought the 1cm x 1cm black right angle plastic strip that cra_arc recommended, less than £1 a strip...... I had one badly mangled door card where someone previous had tried to repair the top edge using superglue, was a right mess........... 5 mins fitting this plastic strip and the door card looks as good as new!!! excellent fix, if you have blown tops to your door cards and havent already attempted this fix then I highly suggest you do it! costs less than a fiver to do all four dor cards and makes door cards as good as new!!! |

My 190 had this problem, what i did was removed the door trim and heated the lifted section with a hair dryer , then sprayed the underside with some industrial strength fabric glue and slowly smoothed the vinyl back over the top of the card with the palms of my hands whilst still warm , once cold the vinyl was under no strain as the heating of the vinyl re moulded it and there was no tension and it was not trying to pull back, so then i just stapled the edge down on the underside where it can not be seen and replaced the panel that was over 4 months ago now and they still look like new
took me about a day to do all four but while worth it as all look perfect now, but to be fair this way does take a lot of patience and you need to be very very careful with the heating and re moulding, whereas cra_arc`s idea sound`s perfect for a quick and pleasing to the eye fix.

What an orsum fix!!! Door cards are the vain of a 190's life. My first ones had bloody fag burns in too. Looked terrible but thanks to some poor old man dieing i got a mint find at a local scrapper and an imense 190 was striped of perfect brandnew looking cards. Regret not buying the whole car, it was utterly mint, dont know why it was scraped. Unless he died in the car!!! Hmmm dont think you can have haunted door cards. |

The pvc was starting to peel on the Sportline drivers doocard, nipped ino B&Q, got that section, cut it with a pair of pliers and slotted it in. Perfect result. I have to say Colin, that's the best idea I've ever seen, the car's worth another £500 now.
