Further to my post about wheels.
I've found these on t'ebay.

And I was wondering whether the well informed members of mercedes190.uk could tell me if they'll fit straight onto my 190E

I think they will be too big, 16inch wheels should have a ratio of 45 ish. Those have 55.

According to the tyre calculator those wheels and tyres should have an increase in circumference of only 32.67mm. Is that too big a difference?
At present there's 185-65-15 on my 190E.

The tyres are too big by a long way.
They would rub like hell, front and back.
Your arches can't take an increase in diameter when you're fitting 225 tyres under there.

Wheels are cool though :P
Price looking very good at this point too.
Needing a bit of a refurb but you could DIY when it gets a bit warmer.

From the experiences with those exact wheels on my car, i'd say
that even 215/50/16 is a little bit big.
Next time, i'm gonna go either 225/45/16 or 215/45/16.

BlackCircles or MyTyres should get you some Kumhos for as little wedge as poss. ;)

How about some of these then and staying with 15's.
Can my 190e take 205's without any rubbing?
Not sure of the offset, unless somone else knows cos they've had these wheels before. Otherwise I'll have to email to ask.

Wheels will be fine, but the tyres won't.
205-width is ok, it's the 65-profile that will cause you grief.
205/55/15 is the ideal tyre size for 15s on a 190.

Perhaps you could still buy them, and then trade the tyres in
at a place that does new & part worns and get some Nankang/Kumho/Falkens in
your perfect size?

They are 16, with 215/55/16 tyres and they rubbed at the front until i spaced the wings out and even then 205/50 would have been better.

So the 185-65-15's I've got on at the moment fit cos they're not too wide right?
Otherwise the 65 profile can't be at fault, it must be the width.

I hope I'm understanding this wheel thing right.
205 is the width of the tyre,
65 is the ratio of the hight of the sidewall expressed as a percentage of the width,
and 15 is the rim diameter,

So, cos the tyre's wider, combined with the 65 height, then the extra bit that's sticking out is the bit that's gonna rub. Right?

Bingo.
As the width increases, the profile must decrease.

As most online tyre calculators will tell you, a 2.5% +- difference
is the most you should go, though i've found that it's best
to play it safe and go slightly smaller than the 621mm rolling
diamater of your current 185/65/15s.
Better acceleration too ;)

cheers for that.
It's finally making sense.
What would be your ideal size for a 15" then. 205/55/15?
I'm gonna hunt them suckers down!
