the source http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4158/is_20050705/ai_n14681805 " Like most rulers, King Hussein loved Mercs. His favourite was an ordinary- looking 1968 300 SEL 6.3, on the understandable grounds that it twice saved his life during assassination attempts. The mabrouka as he called it (roughly meaning 'the lucky one') was not armour-plated " living proof that old Mercs really are built like tanks. With Middle East security being what it is, bullet-proof Mercs were soon ordered as state cars. It was a shame, then, that King Hussein defeated the object by sitting on the roof of his car during motorcades. He always felt his view was hampered by an inch-thick layer of Perspex. His favourites were, of course, the sports cars. There is a legendary Mercedes 300 SL 'gullwing', of the sort that was changing hands at the height of the classic car boom in the late 1980s for close to pounds 1m. It arrived in Jordan brand new in 1955, and predictably the King went racing in it. The same fate awaited a number of his cars, including a 1988 Mercedes 190E 2.3 16v in which he set a record on the fearsome Rumman hill climb event that stood for seven years. " |

Great collection, though a bit of a shame that the evo II is confined to a museum |

great find weneakhborz ! that white hillclimb car looks like one of the first ever factory mercedes dtm 190's, and as you say 400bhp is a little optimistic... anyone spot the primative car camera bolted to the front bumper, not too creative,as i would of thought bolting it to the roll-cage is a better idea? |

About the 400 HP i thought that too.but some folks told me that it was.some thing iam not very sure about the there was an exact same one but Black colored and with a huge AMG on the doors.maybe that one was the 400 hp one.any ways> as i recal there is one on the roll cage too mate.and that was in the 1990's so it was a big thing to have a cam on you car. and don't forget that it was "His late majesty's" |

Wow, lots of really nice cars there. Also, total respect to the late King Hussein. I think that we, and the Americans treated him quite badly. The americans did the same thing with the Shah. |

Damn, hell of a collection. Shame that they're all in a museum, but I guess some examples of rare cars like these should be preserved in showroom condition for future generations to see. Thanks for sharing the pictures. |

Those black series SL65's are meant to be a bit **insert swear word here** though aren't they? About 10000000 ft/lb's of torque and the traction just doesn't know what to do |

^^^ Yeah but who really cares when you could make the earth spin in reverse???? And I would'nt be too bothered when I had all those other cars to play with if my SL was a little too torquey for my liking Am loving the Valver engine displayed with the detail cut out for a view of the cross section very cool
