Has anyone measured the length of the lug (threaded) which protrudes from the rear of any given alloy wheel and being the part that is screwed into the hub. Presumably this length should be the same on all correct wheel/lug combinations

I don't have a larger pic at the moment but they are the wheels in my Avatar.

Wheels: Mercedes-Benz CLK '04 Aventguard Lightweight, smooth edge, not the lip kind.
Rim Dimensions: 17 x 7.5J
Offset: 37
Tyres: Kumho Ecsta KU31
Tyre Dimensions: 215/40/17
Lugs: MB Lugs and McGard Locknuts
Suspension: GSF supplied Boge-Sachs Kit, approx 60mm drop

(Arch lips rolled, but didn't need to be, just had wrong tyre on originally as they were 225/45/17)

Finally got my self a set of Wheels: Mercedes-Benz W201 Evolution / R129 SL500 (Part Number 129 400 0102).
What should be the correct lenght of the LUGS(Bolts) I have 30mm ones and I have a suspicion that they might be a bit too long

Mate, this is the type of Lug that I had on my Evo-1s (exact same P/N as yours):

As I understand it, MB have discontinued that type of 'long-shank' lug, and you may only be able to buy short-shank ones that sit recessed in the wheel.
Post a picture of the Lugs you have, if you can.

Neil- Thanx for that. I got the correct lugs from ELITE. This was posted a while back. Since then I ve had the above set refurbished ( Followed your instructions) but I rcurrently use 15 inch 15 hole allies that I bought on Ebay. Just waiting for the tyres to wear out so that I could dress the car with new wheels and also do the body work when the weather gets better. I ve got a 540 red , a bit darker than yours
