I'm probably missing something here but the VIN for my 190 is a 14 digit number on the V5 and on the VI plate. The VIN checker says I need 17 digits.....??!!! Can anyone help- I really need to find out the paint code for my car! |

Thanks Ian. Now don't I feel stupid! To be fair my VI plate is mostly covered with waxoyl! Any ideas re. the VIN?- I'd also like to get the info available on the VIN checker. |

ahh thank you very helpful in figuring out what was/is/came with my car when it was new. just bought it used. it is a 1992 190e so lots to learn about it yet. |

Rather than start a new thread I figured these could go in here, I find them rather useful but have to hunt them down each time. You can use this to check if your car is on the insured database, also helpful for checking if other parties are insured in the case of an accident. You just need the reg number. http://www.askmid.co.uk You can use below for finding out what the dvla holds on a vehicle. Tells you when tax is due and engine size. All you need is the reg number and the make. http://www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/ And click on "Vehicle Enquiry" You can use the following to check if an mot cert is valid, or check there is one (you need the mot cert number or the v5) http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/html/home.html Edited by kentronix, Sun Apr 5, 2009 4:40 pm.

Done mine too... My car started out as a astral silver body with blue interior?! Haha. I knew it had a respray this year (along with replacing pretty much everything in it) but I always assumed it was the colour it is! Interesting. And it also explains why the leather seats are in such mint condition. Thanks for that. |
