Yes it is. One way of showing a true evo model is by looking at the hydraulic cylinder because evo's had metal cylinders and ordinary cossie had plastic.

This was down to a number of reasons including hight control.

One thing im interesded if look at the VIN plate, it is showing the weight as being 1840kg on my understanding i thought they were only about 1340kg (40kg heavier than a 2.5-16v)?

The 1840 is maximum weight when the car is loaded.

I wonder if that exhaust is available to buy, or just spray an oval tip black and drill a few holes in it for the "Evo look" :)

Good job Dave! ;)

That's an Impreza 22B it's parked next to - also a rare homologation special. My friend has one and it's quite mental. No ABS even!!! scary.gif

I always thought the roof was too high on those 2-door Scoobies..

The lines look weird

But they sound sweet :D

Evo vs 22B, both rare cars? under 500 22B's made thereabouts isn't it?

Wonder how they'd compare B)

dave hate to say it,hands down the impreza would wipe the arse of the evo,in every department, but, big but as well, considering the age difference of the two cars i would still be well impressed with the drive/handling of an evo 1 or 2 .not that i know,iv never ever seen an evo in the flesh :( (only james,s cossie evo n that looks mental going down road :o )

22Bs got wide arches, like those on the WRC at the time.

From press articles I recall the 22B being sh*t-hot on track but a bit too stiff and unforgiving for road use...

EVO has no number plate on it? Wonder why? The brakes and 'bay l;ook well used.

22Bs certainly did have wide arches...

so wide that they had to build a special paint line to finish the car, as
the regular Impreza line was too narrow.

and yes, unfortunately it kicks the Evo II's arse in most departments.

apart from:
Looks
Quality
Interior
A stranger's response when you say what you drive...

if you have to say "i drive a Subaru" to a purty lady at a party, you then need to spend 15-20 minutes explaining "But, you see, it's an Impreza 22B, a rare homologation model that Subaru had to develop in order to enter into the World Rally Championships. and it only comes in Blue! Pardon? Oh, sorry, 'homologation' doesn't mean that the car's gay, no. it's extremely responsive and develops well over 280 brake-horse-power, so performance-wise it's... oh, okay, if you need to go to the toilet right now then that's okay. i'll be in the kitchen."

vs:

"i have a Mercedes. Yes, we can leave now if you like. It's a little early..."
