I think the second picture is ideal actually. I like how the stripe follows MB's new Ferraristic lateral line.

There is no consequence to painting or repainting the C300 at this point. Any work done to the factory over-catalysed lemon-peel finish would be an improvement. I am actually particularly dissapointed by the factory paintwork, and doubt that the market will frown on re-painting, as it traditionally has on the better or previous models. I reluctantly say that a talented teenager could have done better paint work than the factory C300 finish. My optimistic hope for the car is that the paint will be a durable base for a better finish after it fully cures.

For now, I am making a list of rattles and jingles to be looked into before the car reaches 2k miles. I cannot say I am impressed with the vehicle; it still remains to be seen if it will be a winner like the 190, or a three-year-throw-away. There are a number of things I like about the car, and I remember that even the 190 had some things I didn't care for. For Example, all the 190 aladine and zinc-chromate fastner's finishes failed during the first year, making the engine look bad, and I replaced all of it with 316 stainless. It is the same with the C300, nothing major or serious, just the 190 is a tough act to follow.
