Mart, if it makes you feel any better, I 'doored' a cyclist whilst getting out of a rental car about 2 years ago.
He flew across the street and landed in a heap, and I was all apologies "I'm a cyclist too," etc.
He brushed himself off and limped away on his bike, which as sod's law dictates, was fine.
I have narrowly missed being 'doored' a good 20 or 30 times, and been hit (hospitalised) by a car once in 10 years cycling the city streets.

Tbh when I'm cycling I don't expect motorists to cut me any slack, or even notice that I'm there.
I am A LOT more aware and agile on a Bicycle than I ever am in a Car, here in London.
When I drive around London I give cyclists a respectful amount of room, but don't treat them differently to anything else on the road.
Often, being over-cautious around them can be the worst thing to do.
The cyclist is pedalling along, perfectly in control, and the motorist sits 2 metres behind them, keeping pace (and causing a tailback).
The cyclist is muttering to himself, "For f**k's sake mate, overtake. You're driving a Mondeo, not a bloody double-decker. I'm not going to suddenly spaz out and carve into your path."

Cycling on the Phone or Pavement is truly idiotic, and punishable with several punches to the centre of the face.

ANYWAY! Back on topic...
