Hello. My name is Neil McKenzie. I have written quite a few Christian books, so to give a thumbnail picture, I’ll just quote a brief extract “About the author” from one series of Bible study guides entitled “BADEN – Bible Study For Action”.

Dr. McKenzie was born in Scotland, UK, and came to know Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour as a teenager in 1964 while attending a church conference at Aberystwyth in Wales. Two years later he had started the first Bible study group in his school, and two years later led his university CU Bible study group on a year-long journey through Romans. He has spent some forty years involved in leading small study groups and in training others to become leaders.

He brings a passion for small Bible study groups, knowledge of the Scriptures, and expertise in teaching and learning, to bear on the task of providing house groups with a full study guide to the Epistles. The Baden series comprises a Leaders’ Guide and twenty-two further booklets covering the Epistles from Romans to Revelation, Psalms, Moses, Samuel, Zechariah and Habakkuk. Other volumes are in preparation.

The aim of the series is partly to assist groups, and particularly leaders, with guides which contain plenty of stimulating questions, and suggested answers to each question. The author has been through the experience of raising a family whilst in full-time employment and being active in church leadership, including running a house group. So the question-and-answer format is born out of empathy with fellow house group leaders who are heavily loaded with a multitude of responsibilities. The study guides are designed to take the weight off leaders and save time by giving them the benefit of evangelical exegetical scholarship in easy-to-use short paragraphs. Some longer articles are provided at the end of the books to deal with difficult topics.

However the main thrust of the BADEN approach is to turn conversation into action!
B = Bible Study
A = Application
D = Decision
E = Expedition
N = Network
It is by reading the Bible expecting to hear the Holy Spirit speaking to us, applying the truth, that we take decisions to obey what the Spirit reveals to us. We are then off on an adventure of faith, an expedition together, as we join up as a network to support each other in following the Way.

Dr. McKenzie writes as one amateur to another, seeking to answer questions he has met in ordinary life as a Christian. If this series passes on his passion for the written Word of God, and the excitement of seeking to follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit which arise when reading it, then the thirteen years of part-time work that have gone into it will have been time well spent.

His career as an aerospace design engineer, science teacher, then university Physics lecturer and post-graduate teacher trainer, have led to an examination of the nature of teaching and learning. His innovative work in developing investigative practical problem-solving as a teaching strategy resulted in national teaching awards from the Institute of Physics, The Association for Science Education, The Institution of Mechanical Engineers, The Institute of Electrical Engineers, the English Speaking Union, and a research degree in science pedagogy. Before retiring from academia he gained a further research degree in Biblical Studies with special emphasis on Old Testament Theology. He is married with two sons in their 30’s.

OK, enough boring biography! As to the future, my wife and I are seeking the Lord's will as to where we might assist fellow saints who live in a Muslim country. We already help financially through the Barnabus Fund (UK) but, now that we have retired, we are praying about whether we might spend some time abroad beginning Jan.2010. We both enjoy teaching, which is what we did before retiring. We wonder whether we might visit Morocco to meet some fellow believers and see how we might help. Please pray for us, and if you have an suggestions, please let me know.
God bless.
