It's a good thing you're in the UK. Grades like that would sentance you to a year at a community college before making any University. Especially that D in math...

It's just as well that I'm not going to university then. I'm not sure how these marks stand up against American ones, but these are considered pretty good, not perfect, but an A and A* grade are very difficult to get.

As for the D, maths has never been my best subject. All those numbers and formulas...that and I was firs in a class that was too big so if you couldn't keep up (which was often the case for me) the teacher usually wouldn't have time to go through it completely and made sure you understood. Then I was stuck in a much smaller class but the teacher wasn't there half the time so our lesson plan was sometimes in a million places at once, and most of the kids in the class just couldn't be arsed to learn and slowed the lesson down.

I was only a couple of marks off passing maths. Now I have to do it again in College but probably only for a month or so all being well. My maths result just sucks and all...

C's are not good here. It's "Satisfactory" which is just a nice way of saying "Nothing special." No college here would take you serious with a C average.

My GCSE's where way worse then yours (my best results where Cs in Business studies, english and maths) and I got into Uni anyway, gcse results really, and I can't stress this enough, mean fuck all

A women at work was in tears bemoaning how her little girl had failed because she got all Bs and couldn't get into some a level course, I just laughed at her stupidity (and terrible parenting for saying her daughter had failed aswell)

anyway, at the end of the day Hoshi, just think; you're not as stupid as me :D

Your shitting me she's not allowed to do A level and she got b's? Thats complete bullshit! You only need D's to go on to do A levels or at least everywhere Ive wandered to lets you enter with D's as long as you show your willing to learn so c'S are fricken acceptable to get you on with a levels.

Parents suck sometimes

I'm doing a National Diploma course, so results mean even less. Particularly seeing that it's in popular music and that obviously isn't much of an academic subject. The only thing it affects is what class you're in.

Tell me, what does GCSE stand for? I'm confused as to if those are like, your highschool marks, or some kind of standardised test (akin to the SATs in the States).

I don't actually know what they stand for. lol. They're exams that pre-determine (supposedly) how you go through college university and eventually employment. But people take them less and less seriously as the years go by.

Ah, yeah, we got rid of those kinds of things here a long while ago. Canadian universities look at the actual class marks from highschool (need an 80 average just to apply).

I was just wondering what kind of marks they were.

I think (and I may be WAY out here as its been years since I did them) it stands for general certificate of secondary education . They kinda determine if you can go on to do A-levels or the equivalent. A levels detemine which and if you get into a university (although there are other ways). Or atleast thats the way it was.
