John Lennon isn't really a bad lyricist, byt the whole Imagine album has terrible lyrics.

And Jeff Tweedy. Ergh.

Scott obviously hasn't heard enough bad lyricists if his nomination is Jeff Tweedy.

While that's true, forget the fact that it is John Lennon and read the lyrics.

Except lyrics must be sung, not read. That's why they're lyrics and not poetry.

Jeff Tweedy's lyrics on SBS are pretty simplistic, though not terrible. Other than that, I think he's an above-average lyricist.

I think Sky Blue Sky is Wilco's weakest release thusfar besides AM in my opinion, which after hearing recently I did not enjoy. (Please don't hurt me Andrew!)

Man, I couldn't disagree with you more. The lyrics on Imagine (the whole album) are some of the best of John's career, and John was a great lyricist in my opinion.

The only thing on that album that i'd consider bad is the overly tedious "I don't want to be a solider, mama"
someday monkey won't play piano song, play piano song

Most of the lyrics in Highway 61 makes me hate music.

Man I'm like the anti-rolling stone.

Well, the "BABYBABYBABYBABY" stuff is excusable, in my opinion. Most blues/blues rock bands sing about similar topics. It's the Tolkien-inspired shit that I find more offensive.
