Commercials; Everything wrong in your world.

I have noticed lately all these commercials telling families, "Why make a meal for your family when you can go to (insert fast food name)." So basically why cook a healthily meal for yourself and the ones you love when you can go to fast food? lately these commercials have been becoming more and more popular, so far I have seen; Denny's, Taco Time, KFC, Burger King, and more. I have a big problem with this kind of message, I have a big problem in general with fast food.

I see all the time these commercials that if you think about them you can see everything wrong in the world right now. Any thoughts?

Commercials are very commercial, and for this reason I think we should commercialise the commercial nature of today's commercials.

(my commercially contributed two cents, for your commercial pleasure)

I don't see the big deal. Obviously it's selling or they wouldn't be showing. Commercials will be there nonetheless, if you don't like the product don't buy it.

Life expectancy rates are goin' up. We've got the technology to fix us after we McDonald's our selfs to near death.

Be sure and tell her...
Fast food makes me feel like I'm covered in Vaseline. And since I'm vegetarian I can't really get anything at any of them anyway, which is pleasing.

Chuck Klosterman once did an experiment where he ate nothing but Chicken McNuggets for 7 straight days. It is chronicled in the book Chuck Klosterman IV and you guys should read it. His taste in music is questionable but his writing is amazing.

Anyway. We don't cook a lot in my family anymore (way to break stereotypes, Mom!), so we go out most of the time, but we usually go to places where we can eat healthy if we so choose.

And the commercials I hate the most are local car commercials. They make me mourn humanity.

My favorite has to be the Chevy Malibu one where the lady is running and runs straight into the fucking car. Then, another commercial goes by, and it goes back to the girl and she runs into the car AGAIN!
Oh and the one with the robbers and they run out of the bank and the cops come and they run right past them. That's good stuff.

The problem I have with it is that this thinking is being wired into peoples brain and the more they hear it the more they believe it.

I know it is selling because that is what they do, they sell. But that is what I have a problem with.

we are making advances in science and we do live longer, but think how much longer on top of that we'd live if we didnt eat shitty processed food.

Fast food = slow bowels, broken families, more fossil fuel use, laziness, feelings of entitlement, impatience, irritability, divorce, violence......okay, that's enough.

Slow food = faster bowels, loving families, less fossil fuel use, industriousness, modesty, patience, calmness, fidelity, helpfulness......okay, that's enough.

Eat more fiber.

Either way, before someone else points this out, comparing sexual slavery and false family values is pretty illogical.

That being said, the fact that people tolerate the molestation of family values so multinational corporations (who have more than enough money than they know what to do with) can turn a profit is completely disgusting.

I agree. All commercials in general now are just really really bad. I find most of them sneaky, underhanded, deceitful, uninformative, unnecessary, useless...etc...I find the worst ones are on stations like CTV, CBC, Global (Fox), Omni 1/2, and Citytv. (For those of you in Canada, because I don't know the related American station). They're are just so repetitive and redundant, like it's pounding my mind with the same crap over and over. Feel like saying, "Just stop man!! Shut up!! I don't want this!!!" I find the best commercials are the simple straight information commercials. Like, the recent Wendy's commercials, they're straight facts. "We got good hamburgers, and all whole bunch of sides you can choose, you should try it...and we're open late too." There, that's all I need to know, not so hard, and bearable, even though it's crap food. I think it would be better if commercials were just simple pictures on the screen for a minute or so with words describing the facts about the product and where to get it. Let the consumer handle the rest.

Yeah... but then we would have to read, and we couldn't have that could we?

But yeah... all these commercials are trying to trick people into buying their product and it starts from little kids. That is the real problem, kids are a MAJOR factor in where families go to eat, and if you convince the kids they will pull the moms and dads with them to wherever they want to go. They will beg and complain and pull them into the restaurant.
