The only folk band I listen to is the Kingston Trio. I need something else along those lines. Late 50's Early 60's. |

Folk music really hit it's zenith at this time (for popularity). I love it! I love most of the old folk stars from the period, Baez, Dylan, Ian and Sylvia, Peter Paul and Mary, etc. Even now I play old albums from them. A favorite is "In The Wind" by PP+M. I really enjoy the harmonies, usually Peter on the right, Paul on the left, and Mary in the middle in my "soundstage". I believe at the time Peter Paul and Mary were criticized by folk purists for the beauty and polish of their performances (as opposed to other more "authentic" and raw folk performers, like Dylan aimed to be at the beginning). But not me. I love the purity and beauty of their harmonizing. And I just melt over some of Joan Baez's songs, so pure and beautiful and haunting is (was?) her voice. Here was a genre where it was necessary to have real musical talent to succeed! Some Peter Paul and Mary doing Dylan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LoBwkVLVKU |

It's my opinion (probably Jeff's too) that most scene kids do that. But I'm not saying that's your case. |
