Anyone at this forum really into that old folk scene? Like Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Joan Baez, Buffy Sainte Marie, Arlo Guthrie, Peter Paul and Mary...etc. And of course more mainstream stuff in the 60's like Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash. Even the psychedelic folk stuff is really good. This one is really good, I can't find a recording of it though. If anyone knows where to get it, let me know. http://youtube.com/watch?v=H3q79HFjhBg Anyone got any favorite tunes? |

Bob Dylan is the only folk artists that I really love. I like other artists who could be considered like Donovan or Simon & Garfunkel, but Bob Dylan is my favorite. Folk music could go both ways for me. There's some styles that I like and others that I don't. |

Yah, Donovan is one of my favorite artist. He was in the second wave of folk musicians in the mid 60's, along with The Byrds, Arlo Guthrie, Buffalo Springfield...etc. Who were all really good at introducing folk into pop culture and music as psychedelic folk/rock, which we all know, defined hippie movement. Really really good stuff. Bob Dylan was huge too, being an earlier performer he started writing songs for a lot of bands and had a lot of musicians cover his earlier work in the late 60's. Here Donovan with Bobbie Gentry http://youtube.com/watch?v=WG4Hj7FsYqo |

I like Donovan more then Dylan...Maybe because I enjoy Donovan's voice more. I don't know. But I like Dylan too...just not as much. |

He only has one album, so yeah, go with Oar. And he tried to murder his ex-band Moby Grape with an axe like a week before he made the album. Punx! |

There's a CD that comes with the R Crumb Handbook that has Crumb and a bunch of his friends playing old-time folk music. (Crumb plays banjo.) My favorite song on there is called "My Girl's Pussy".
