Doesn't seem like it's been six years already. Seems more recent somehow.

As far as I'm concerned, we should remember 9/11, maybe not celebrate it, but remembering is good. Having it called Patriot's Day, at first didn't seem like a fitting name. But, to be honest, that was the today that we temporarily brought all our senses and concentrated on the safety and welfare of our country.

Also, it seems that it was more recent because it is one of those pivotal events in history for our generation.

As if he's never seen one b4.
Our folks had Nam, our grand folks had the JFK assassination, and we have 9/11.
each generation lives in a time where at least something resembles that of their parents.
Sadly, most of the time....its that someone dies.

My history teacher was just talking about that, Bree. He said that there are always days that everybody knows exactly where they were and what they were doing on that day. He mentioned the Challenger space shuttle disaster, too.

One of us cannot be wrong
I was only 11 when it happened, but I remember it so well. Age really doesn't matter. It's really something that no one could forget. I had fallen asleep on the lounge, and I woke up around 1 in the morning where my dad and brother were sitting around me both watching it all unfold on the news. The second plane hadn't hit yet, but shortly after it did I can remember my other brother ringing up just to talk about it all. I went to sleep a little later, and when I woke up just nothing was on TV but the news covering the attacks. I didn't even know what the world trade centers were at the time, but it was pretty obvious something fucking huge had just happened. So I went to school, and all the discussion around school was pretty weird. I can't even imagine what it would have been like in the American schools. But yeah, really a surreal moment. Easily the biggest event to happen this century.

It's called flashbulb memory, it's when something traumatic happens in your life. Extremely traumatic. It gets so ingrained into your brain that you can remember exact words, and smells, and sights. Oddly you can't remember the time in flashbulb memories.
My body is a cage. That keeps me from dancing with the one I love, but my mind holds the key.

I live in the US, about 10 miles outside of DC, and I was pretty damn pissed when they didn't tell us ANYTHING that happened in school. All they said was "a plane hit a building in Washington DC" and nothing else, no specification of what building, how many people were hurt, etc. My mother worked (still does) in DC, and I was scared assless that something happened to her, and even when I asked teachers they didn't tell me a thing about it.

We were 9, we knew what an airplane was jfc.

How exactly does a plain hit a building? Plains are usually immobile areas of land.

That was so wrong, but it felt so right.

Anyway. Yes. 9/11. I find that it is something that must be remembered however I also find that any memorial service thing for it is cheapened by "9/11 Country Rock" that they always play during them. After you hear "I'm Proud to Be An American" 500 times in one day, you WANT to forget wat happened.

I remember seeing it on the TV, and I must say that I've never seen a scene so horrifying and spectacular at the same moment...

But I still think the United States government should, in a way, blame themselves for it.
