Well Avril's poppy 'hey fuck you!' lyrics go with her poppy music, so I don't see the argument.

Not that it matters, no one hear has listened intensely to any of her albums.

Her lyrics ANd music are bull and dereritive and superficial to me, but that's an opinion.

And "Complicated" was on the radio at work today! I want to strangle the dumb-pass valley girls who were singing it.

I think more of myself as a song and dance man.
I have a few:

Pete Townshend:
"Quite simply, I feel that The Stones are the world's best rock and roll band."

Bono (to Bob Dylan):
"I said, 'Those songs are gonna last forever, Bob.' And he said, 'Your songs are gonna last forever too - the only thing is, no one's gonna be able to play them.'"

Here are a few Elvis quotes -

John Lennon:
"Before Elvis, there was nothing."

Buddy Holly:
"Without Elvis, none of us could have made it."

Phil Spector:
"Gosh, he's so great. you have no idea how great he is, really you don't. You have no comprehension - it's absolutely impossible. I can't tell you why he's so great, but he is. He's sensational. He can do anything with his voice. He can sing anything you want him to, anyway you tell him. The unquestionable King of rock 'n' roll."

Bob Dylan:
"Hearing him for the first time was like busting out of jail."

Frank Sinatra:
"His kind of music is deplorable, a rancid smelling aphrodisiac."

This is pretty well-known:

Pete Townshend:
The Kinks were much more quintessentially English. I always think that Ray Davies should one day be Poet Laureate. He invented a new kind of poetry and a new kind of language for Pop writing that influenced me from the very, very, very beginning. I think that Dave Davies is also very underestimated.

This is actually pretty interesting:
Truman Capote on Dylan (I had to translate this from spanish, sorry):
I've always thought that Dylan is a phoney. After all he's not a kid that sings lyrical songs. He's an opportunist that wants to make a career and he knows pretty well where he's going to. Besides, he's a hypocrite. I've never understood why people like him. He can't sing."

Can't anyone here let an argument die for the sweet love of god?

I like how Anthrax dedicated one of their albums to Cliff Burton. :)

Truman Capote allowed a man to die so he could publish a book, so I wouldn't take what he says with a grain of salt. :cigar:

That may be true, but Morrissey is also 10 times more awesome than Robert Smith, so it's alright
