Once upon a time, there was a forum-wide problem involving the uploading of albums to topics and the giving away of free music. I never liked having all those topics deleted, because I discovered some greatest artists through them. But I feel asking people or recommending albums can be a pain because the people may never see your post, or just forget to download it. So I've decided to upload some albums to my signature that I think people on the forum would like. I've rambled on about many artists in my time here, and I think it's about time I actually gave an easy way for people to listen to them. I'll just post a little bit of info on each album here. Robbers & Cowards: I discovered this band by seeing them next to 'Coldplay' while looking at CDs, and decided to listen to their album because I'd read about them in a magazine sometime before. The album itself is filled with indie greatness - some weird (but not weird, because I'm Dean and I like my easy-to-like music) vocals and strange song structures, and a raw, gritty feel to the album. Very interesting band that I could see becoming popular sometime. I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning: When I was a kid, my mother and sister were obsessed with country music, so I grew up having to suffer through all of it. And to this day I have a massive passion of hate towards it. But something about this album - the lyrics, the melodies - while it has a very country feel, is accessible to me, and one of my favorite albums of this decade. Filled with 10 raw, beautiful tracks, Conor takes you on a ride as the title suggest - it feels like a "morning" album, though it's excellent for any time of day. This showed me why Conor is called "this generation's Bob Dylan". Push Barman To Open Old Wounds: Ever since I heard the beautiful, poppy and charming melodies of Belle & Sebastian, I was in love. This album takes you on a journey through the band's early days (when Stuart did some solo recordings, which are featured, "The State I Am In" being one) up to the end of their Jeepster Records days. It includes tracks from all of their Jeepster EPs and singles, and is one of the best collections of music I've ever heard. Essential '90s music compiled on two discs. Neon Bible: Following up to the group's critically acclaimed debut, Funeral, was seemed to many to be an almost impossible job, but the band did it - and in my opinion, with a better collection of melodies, lyrics and overall songs than the first. A lot darker and much more epic sounding, the band talks of their anti-war views, the state of the world, and much more throughout the album. One of the best releases of the year, the darkness is beautiful, tragic and almost hopeful, showing how modern music can still be magical. |

These albums don't look very "appetizing" to me, but I'll check them out to see what they bring to the table. Now Playing: Bad Brains - Rock For Light |

I do like them, but I already have 3 of their albums. Does this one bring anything new that the others don't? |

I added Origin of Symmetry by Muse to the collection. I know a lot of people here will be quick to just never download them, but this album is really a showing of amazing modern music. It's a mix between their debut and the follow up, and it's compiled with tones of great prog-rock type songs. It's a bigger piano and synth based album, so I think that Steve should really listen to it. Actually, everyone should give them a try, I think if you threw all my lame fanboy talk to the side, quite a lot of people would like these guys. |
