One of us cannot be wrong

So what does everyone think of these guys? I've only heard a couple of their songs, and I'm definitely up for more. They're a late 60's band who wrote a great anti-war song that made it to Forest Gump, so what's not to love? If there are any fans here, what can you suggest I do get? What's your view of them? You know, this is like a general thread to discuss them. So your thoughts? |

Get Chronicle. It's easily one of the best "greatest hits" albums I've ever heard. |

I think more of myself as a song and dance man.

One of those bands I attempted to get into more, but didn't follow through. Rockin' band though. I love the songs I do have. |

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not sure if I'm that keen on greatest hits albums. I guess I find if they're only a best of band, they're not worth really getting into. But I guess there's no harm in checking it out. I'll look into it. |

I Put a Spell on You Not a live version, just the studio version with some live footage over it. Check Fogerty staring into the camera and your soul on the first "you". Still, that intro. One of the best cover songs I've heard.

I've got 8 of their songs, but I like those a lot, especially Have You Ever Seen the Rain? |

Get them all then, if possible. With the possible exception of "Mardi Gras", their last one. You can't go wrong for tight, competent, blues-based rock and roll with CCR. Highly recommended. |

It doesn't matter if you don't like compilations, Chronicle, Vol. 1 is just hella good. One of the first bands I ever heard and still one of my favorites. Fogerty has a strange voice, but it doesn't take a second listen to appreciate. "Lodi" is one of my favorite songs ever. |

Yeah. I don't usually like Greatest Hits albums that much either, but this one is really good. I can't lie. "Lodi" is good, but I'll take "Green River" or "Fortunate Son" any day. |

I LOVE CCR! every single ccr album is awesome. that is not a lie. actually, i'm missing "pendulum," but i can tell you from experience that the others are awesome and an educated guess tells me that that one is, too. their albums stop at '72, which means they didn't go on long enough to suck. john has one of the sweetest voices ever. there is a bootleg dvd you can get of a ccr concert that was originally a tv special in the day. it's really cool. i would start with their self-titled first album and just work your way up. |

I only have Fortunate Son, but I'd definitely like more. I haven't got around to it yet. |

Man, for being a mainly classic rock forum, you guys don't venture out much in classic rock. |

It's good, but Green River and Cosmo's Factory beat it, easily. Get all 3, it was their high point. |
