I went to Tribeca Film Festival yesterday to see the movie "The Killing of John Lennon". It's a small independent film from Britain. It says in the begining of the movie that all the words are chapman's own. It's not the Jared Leto, Lindsey Lohan film, it's a different one. The movie was very well made and very well acted. It's about the events leading up to and after the murder of John Lennon by mark david chapman. I'm little bit torn about the concept of making this film. On one hand it's a very interesting story about a very famous moment in history. It's a story we don't hear much. On the other hand it's giving chapman what he wanted which is to be famous. The guy I was sitting next to at the theater had that very concern. He, and I sorta agree, thinks the movie is just giving chapman exactly what he wants. Infact in the movie chapman says he wants to be famous.

Their was a Q and A with the director afterwards. Someone asked the question about giving chapman what he wants. The director sort of avoided the question. All he said was no he doesn't think it gives chapman what he wants because chapman will never see it.

Someone also asked if the director interviewed chapman. The director said no because chapman has a way of giving the interviewer what he thinks he/she wants to hear.

If this is the case, and the film is all chapman's words, how do we know that the events are accurate? chapman could have just pursuaded the interviewer of the questions with his own agenda.

Those are my thoughts. Has anyone else seen it?

I don't really care if he gets what he wants. He's going to stay in prison forever, so what does it matter? If we stopped making potentially entertaining movies about him, we'd only be hurting ourselves.
