Nothing else like it at the time? Somebody's never heard Pet Sounds or Freak Out!

I don't agree with it either, but it was well written and funny to read. I'd buy the book.

That was the most immature, irrelevent, unneccesary babbling I have ever read.

Does this guy not know that the Beatles were not hardcore liberals intent on changing the world? Has he ever heard Revolution? That song is anti-protest.  And also, is it such a problem that Sgt. Pepper's was not a 'rock' album? It was different from every album of the time.

The Beatles are and always were timeless.  Anybody at all can listen to them and enjoy them.  Is it such a big deal that they chose to make a nostalgic themed album? It was something that hadn't been done before, and it was easy on the ears for anybody.  My grandpa, in the 60's, hated all music that my dad and his siblings listened to--except the Beatles.  I don't know his exact thoughts on Sgt. Pepper's, but I'm sure he liked it.

There's one extreme, now for another:

My best friend is a hardcore metal fan.  He is totally obsessed with Slayer.  HE has a copy of Sgt. Pepper's, AND he loves it!

Now, to this guy who wasted his time being childish, complaining about an album just because it is popular, if you hate it because it is not a rock song, and it's too nostalgic, then you missed the point of it. You obviously need a life if you write books complaining about popular albums.

Are you writing a book? Cause I'd buy it.

You're pretty much awesome + nailed everything perfectly.

thanks, also on that site was one on tommy, when i feel like reading that ill be sure to add to my book

Jim DeRogartis is an asshole, who apparently didn't have much love from his parents and so hates everyone. Especially what people consider classics.
He deserves our compassion and a huge stick up his ass.

Because he dislikes Sgt. Pepper's? Well, gee, that's logical.

To be honest, it may have been well written, but i disagree with a lot of his main points, and the way he presented them, if that makes sense.

I really enjoyed it. I'm going to get a copy of this when it comes out. :)

You're just hoping it's got a review of The Wall in it. :cigar:

And I'm surprised Eric isn't more interested in this book, considering it mentions The Dark Side Of The Moon as one of the albums reviewed in it. :cigar: :cigar:

I agree with some, though not all, of what this guy says. I do agree that Sgt. Pepper's is highly overrated, being a good, but not great, album. The Beatles is a lot better, yet is not as well known by the average non-Beatles-fan.

The usual jealousy from the uncomprehending. In circles where it's cool to be contrary, deserved or not, this kind of de-constructionist view is often heard. A sort of rebellion against the status quo, just to be rebelling. Big deal.

No. I think you can be a good critic and not be offensive, which he is most of the time. If he dislikes Sgte. Pepper, what the fuck do I care, it's when he's an abnoxious and pretentious litte turd that bothers me. He just wants to be contrary with no reason, just for the reason of rebellion.
Let's not jumo to conclusions with the posts I make, M'mkay?
