Well I think it's pretty self explanatory, you just have to choose which song you prefer. I chose these two songs against each other because they're often talked about together as the two great space songs of their time (Space Oddity coming a few years earlier), and so I thought it would make an interesting poll. While they're both great songs, I chose Space Oddity. Space Oddity was the song that got me into David Bowie, and I like the overall weirdness of it. What's your choice?

I really shouldn't of voted, because I haven't heard Rocket Man, but I said Space Oddity because I really likes it.

It was close but i had to pick Space Oddity just because i like David Bowie better than Elton John but i like the songs pretty much equally. When i was in elementary school we had this teacher who would bring in a guitar and sing a bunch of songs with us and one of them was Space Oddity.

space oddity rules. it was close though because rocket man always makes me think of my hero, steve prefontaine because in the movie about him (PRE) the scene of his fatal car crash has rocket man playing in the back.

but space oddity wins
anyone for tennis?

I think that's exactly what he meant when he said close.

Rocket Man I guess. One helluva beautiful melody and a heavenly vocal performance from the Reginald. I think that Bowie would get better at the whole overblown anthem type songs as his career progressed (Life On Mars?, Quicksand, Starman are all much better)
