Didn't we have a topic like this already?... *shuts up*

I was just gonna say that. I swear I remember there being a topic with the same subject.

And it got up to 4 pages, I think... And chodus (Ivan) started it... and--*really shuts up* :cigar:

Yes we have, but then again there are a whole lot of topics that are being repeated.

We alreayd had this topic. But the best live band/artist is probably the Who, The Allman Bros. Band, the Rolling Stones, James Brown, or Led Zeppelin.

If we're gonna put the Rolling Stones there, then I want to name the Kinks.

The Kinks were quite good live, although their 80s live stuff seems a lot more punkish... I don't know, but I could never imagine The Kinks sounding like that :cigar:

From their eccentric presentations of the 70's, when they mixed a play with a rock concert, to their heavy or punkish 80's presentations, they've been always so good. And Ray is such a great frontman.

I feel...violated

I basically agree with Zach on this one, Who, Zeppelin, Stones, Allman Bros, James Brown and Hendrix in the early days were the best in rock music for me.

Miles Davis' Second Quintet live was magic, as was Coltrane's Classic Quartet and The Bill Evans Trio

Yeah The Who were pretty good live, but I'll take Cream any day. I mean, they get lost in those jams and once you're in the peak of them, the high point, where Ginger, Jack, and Eric all lost in their own space going wild on their instruments while keeping the same song somehow together is just great.

The Grateful Dead are cool, their endless jams are cool as well, but I never got into them (except dug an album of theirs), so... They'll have to wait for my vote. :cigar:

Deep Purple at their peak were an amazing live band. Neil Young is also worth mentioning.

I bought Live at Leeds yesterday, and I can say with complete certainty that The Who are the greatest live band ever.

I mean, if you play like me, you had better have your own band. Nobody wants that amount of participation from a bass player.
