god some of those posts showhow mature a few people are here. Its sad when life is taken for no good reason. I am so sick of people saying "it was jsut some americans" blah blah blahand im not even american. Each of them had family. It is sad when anyone dies in a preventable circumstance.

Is it really? To me, that seems quite an anthropocentric perspective. We have seen by example that humans are causing the planet excessive damage, so to place such a high value on human life is completely irrational if one values the continued existence of life on earth. I'm not saying it was right, but people do seem to place an unnecessarily high value on individual lives.

That's messed up.

I sort of think that. The main reason I posted that is arguing for the sake of it, but I don't really know what to think, I can see both sides.

Who cares? Some kid in America killed some other kids, people get killed all the time, it's not like it's a shock any more.

You shouldn't expect to be shot by some looney on a college campus of all places.

Nah, that's not really it. I mean, that could be partially it, but I think it's more because it happened in a white Christian country that it really took off and was so huge.

I never understood why Hurricane Katrina was more important, even to our other ally countries, than those mudslides in India were to the world.

I can kind of see where you're coming from.

But that's still fucked.

Im sorry, if the world would just pull their heads out of their own asses and realize that there are other people on this planet and that they ALL matter just as much as they do the world would be fine. Once we get that down it'll be FAR easier to convince people taht that planet is in trouble and that we all need to take part in fixing it.
It all goes hand in hand you see. When people see this stuff, half their brain is screaming "YOU, YA YOU, THE PERSON im sitting on top of! Your involved in this! You gatta help!" the other half is all "But im just One person.....so it wont do anything." its the same with voting.
the human brain is odd, when it comes down to a " u or them" situation.....sadly, quite a few people got with "them". Not to say that there arent alot off people out their who would put them selves out to save the other person. I would. I put much greater value on others lives than i do on mine.

If anything, i think that not enough value is put on individual lives anymore, other than ones own that is.

My point is, in America there's a certain preference with many people towards guns, you can't live in a gun loving society and not expect at least a few shootings every now and then. Give the psychopath a gun, and they'll fucking use it.

Yes. But those people have that stupid 2nd amendment. I personally believe it was talking about an "in times of war" kind of thing.
But they wanna take it for its literal definition. So, i say to those people, "Yes you can have your guns......but does it say we have to give you ammunition?"
That would solve problems, or at least help prevent them. Limit ammunition. No one fears the gun if its not loaded. Unless the psycho tried to club you to death with it that is....

it could also mean that we, as americans, have the right to ware short sleeved shirts on hot summer days.

yep, as Chris Rock says guns dont kill people, bullets kill people. Make ammo cost $1000 per bullet. HAHA!
Ah, but it's a great time to be alive, ladies and gentlemen. And that's the theme of our program for tonight. It's so FUCKING GREAT to be alive! Is what the theme of our show is tonight, boys and girls. And I wanna tell ya, if there is anybody here who doesn't believe that it is FUCKING GREAT to be alive, I wish they would go now, because this show will bring them down so much . . . -FZ

People would make their own bullets.

But it would cut down the amount of people doing it. they would have to be really crazy and really determined. And you'd notice if someone was stalking a supply of what ever is used to make bullets.

yes i know people can make there own bullets. The point its not guns, its people and they way people respect life. If guns were banned it would be something else

If guns were banned, sales of other weapons would go up. People are gonna kill other people no matter what. I'm not saying it's right, but it's the way of the world.

Okay, let me rephrase that.

There is too much value placed on individual human lives, as compared to those of other species.

So, either we should place less value on human life, or more value on life in general. Personally, I think we should do the latter.
