Jimi Hendrix sex is good, though.
Because he was black.

So now we're back on topic. :) I rock.

Wow you guys seem to be having fun...

Hendrix wouldn't be as amazing I mean. Black people don't play guitar; they play bass! But man Hendrix showed 'em.

hey
Actually, Jimi was part black, part Cherokee Indian, and part Irish. I think he was only half black at the most. I think if he lived longer and had even a career only 5 years longer, he would easily be considered one of the greatest musicians of all time.
I don't think his singing voice is great, but it's not bad, and it's never bothered me while listening to it.

Meh, all the reverence about Hendrix doesn't come from the fact that he was black and was popular, it was the fact that he played a pretty mean guitar. And yes he was always self conscious about his voice and was always trying to hide it in the mix (Hey Joe with the backing singers) but I think by the time of Electric Ladyland, his voice had developed into this really nice r&b/soul type thing. Just check out his backing vocals throughout, stellar stuff.

That's why I think that song is one of the lamest tracks played on classic rock radio. I sounds so strange.

I guess I've never liked the mixing on his stuff much anyway... :dodido:

Funny. I never really noticed anything "bad" about his voice until I read some of the comments in this thread. I find to be as soulful and inspired as his guitar playing.

Same here. A lot of people say it took them forever to get into his voice. Um, yeah, compared to trying to "get" Robert Plant's voice, Jimi was as hard as trying to breathe.

Don't forget his lyrical ability. When people talk about his amazing guitar skills, they tend to forget (or don't realise) his skill at writing lyrics. Songs like Little Wing and Angel are just beautiful, and the lyrics to 1983 ... (A Merman I Should Turn To Be) are just incredibly awesome. He was a really underrated songwriter. And I personally love his voice. I really love everything musically about the man. I don't think him being black had much to do with anything, though that probably makes me sound naive. It really is a shame he only lived as long as he did.
