Ok, I'm not very familiar with alot of bassists (ashamed), I put up the ones I can think of right now that are good (imho :cigar:), add a bassist if you notice that he's missing... Hope we don't have a poll like this already :cigar:

I guess you'd probably know who did I vote for... :cigar:

EDIT: fuck, I forgot Bill Wyman. See what I was talking about? :cigar: I'm such an idiot...

I've watched that and many others, and he's an excellent bassist, but I don't like his sound...

I'm not voting because I love both Entwistle and McCartney's sound and style. But some other honorable mentions are Andy Nicholson who played on the Arctic Monkeys' debut album which is filled with delicious bass hooks (a shame he left the band, though) and Chris Wolstenholme of Muse, who even Paul McCartney said had a great bass style.

Hm, lots of good bass players though.

Sounds like you're a Metallica fan.

Imagine ...And Justice For All with Cliff playing bass. He EASILY kicks the shit out of Newstead.

No one is honestly going to vote for them. Just mention them in your post if you like them.

I'm not a fan actually, I never listened to them alot, but I'm quite familiar with their music and Cliff especially because I have a friend who idolises him, so most of my involvement with Metallica comes through him...

And you're right about him kicking Newstead's ass. :nerd:

That'd of course be John Fucking Entwistle.

I mean, if you play like me, you had better have your own band. Nobody wants that amount of participation from a bass player.

I'd vote for Chris Squire.

Besides, if we have guys as obscure and nameless as Tom Evans (who isn't really that good) you might as well add more no-names.

More:
John McVie
Chris White
Roger Waters
Jack Cassady
Jack Bruce

You're amazing for putting Pete Quaife in that list, what an underrated bass player! I mean the Bach bassline in Wicked Annabella is simply amazing!

My favourite bassist is Entwhistle but I'm gonna vote for Quaife because he's my third favourite and no one else is going to vote for him.

Matt Freeman (of Rancid and Operation Ivy), Les Claypool (Primus)

I'm surprised anyone mentioned either of them. Les Claypool is a fantastic bassist, and his band made a surprisingly good live cover of Animals, too. I've only heard a bit of Matt Freeman's work, but wow. He's an amazing bassist.

I had to vote for Entwistle, though. I'm a Bloody 'Oo fan. I have a commitment!
